How big is your dog?

Only, I have a big favour to ask of those dog owners who have the information to hand.

I've just started sorting some slogan fleece hoodies for my stall and they seem to have really taken off. Now I wanted to make more sizes for lots of different breeds and wondered if any friendly dog keepers could help with the measurements.

Now, Jenny my sammy is a very willing model and will stand and be measured all day. She even angles her head so I can put them on her! Casper, however isn't as interested but either way, I'm sorted for sam sizes! The breeds I was particularly interested in were:
Staffies
Labradors
Westies
GSDs
Spaniels
As they're the most asked about breeds on the stall. However, all breeds would be super!

I know it's a huge favour to ask but the infomation I need is breed, sex, length from collar to base of tail and circumference.

This would be a HUGE help and I would really appreciate it. Also, if you were feeling even more helpful and came for a fitting I could donate the hoodie (in any colour and slogan) for your time and effort and some treats for the canine model.

Thanks so much

Hel

www.dogbreedinfo.com

It gives information on pretty much any breed (male and female)

I hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply :)

I know most dogs don't need extra coats but I was just interested in the sizes of as many breeds as possible. When people come to buy such things from our stall they say 'shes about the size of a lab' or 'he's skinny like a greyhound' so I thought if I could describe which hoodie would fit which collection of breeds on the tag it would be a lot easier for people to judge.

I have 4 at the minute. 2 are mine and 2 are fosters.

Charlie. 3yrs. Rough Collie x Smooth Collie supposedly. Looks more GSD
Ceasar. 19 months. GSD x Dobe. Quite skinny
Tia age?. Staffy x ?
Bam Bam. 5yrs. Collie x ?

Charlie and Cesar would be very willing models. I'll try and get some measurements if I get some time.

Are you doing any slogan free hoodies? I had a right job finding something plain for Evie. She's a Miniature Schnauzer, and does need an extra layer particularly after she's just been clipped, she shivers, even in the car!

I will measure her for you and let you know her size.

Molly, approx 2.5 years GSD (very small for GSD), 26" collar to base of tail, 30" round widest part of the chest.

I'm sure she'd be a willing model if you ever needed one, but everyone would comment on the huge ears rather than the lovely coat!

Thanks for all your replies,

All my Hoodies start off life as plain ones but I think it's the slogans that are selling them at the moment! Although I do admit, the most popular ones aren't that high brow! (I'm with stupid ->, Ask me if I give a woof etc). If you wanted one I'm always more than happy to help!

Medusa, I hadn't realised how big GSDs were if 26" is very small! I suppose Lyndix's Amber is average at 30" then. Jenny only wears a 14" one! (She only wears anything at all as her fur fell out post pregnancy)

I`ve always had gsd`s and Amber is the biggest bitch I`ve had, the dogs have been quite a lot bigger.

Molly was obviously meant to be a much bigger dog, but due to the abuse and being put on cheap crappy adult food with no nutrients in (and not enough of it) at 5 months, her ears, feet and tail grew but the rest of her skeleton never caught up, so she will look gangly and adolescent for the rest of her life. This is the source of her great big furry radar dishes of ears- they would look in proportion if her skull had grown like it was meant to do. She was also skeletally thin when we got her, so we just built her up gently over time- she's still a tin ribs, but she's a healthy weight now.

I think that Amber is average to large for a bitch, but as lyndix says, dogs are bigger still with 30" being small to average for a dog.
