Darnal was a very respectable though working class area, and I was born there and for about 8 years lived there as an adult.
While there I experienced no problems personally. but pubs were often boarded up after problems with travellers and I heard last week that there were problems brewing between asian youths and travellers but this is unconfirmed.
The main problem was that I could not sell my house for love nor money, it was just after some trouble on Staniforth Road although the trouble was farther down towards Attercliffe.
It was a lovely house completely refurbished and on a nice road.
Eventually after 3 months someone from the estate agents asked to call and see me at the property and advised me that because of the postcode the price that they had valued at would have to be reduced considerably to have any hope of selling it.
The area is generally safe and friendly but be carefull.
