As something to look forward to, my BF wants us to go away or spend a day out doing something different... This is in celebration of my exam results (I hope!) as well as a well done for getting into Uni (I hope!) and generally a stress reliever after all the hard work I've put into my school work etc... Hopefully keeping myself busy with packing/organising our holiday or break will keep me occupied so I'm not going insane around results day hehe

We can have a max of 9 days to do whatever we want to do IE: Weekend-5 days off work-Weekend as holiday days at work are limited! We have transport, so getting to secluded countryside spots is not a problem, however I'd like to avoid motorways, as I'm not confident enough to use them yet.

Our budget is "within reason" lol, IE we cant afford a week in Florida, but a few hundred on a little break would be fine. Abroad is an option, but I object to paying the same for 3 nights in France when I've paid the same amount for our summer holiday to Spain lol!

Any ideas folks?

The ideal date for departure will be Sat Aug 20th.

How about scotland? :D

You can drive up the A1 to Scotch corner, then cut across, then head north. By the time you reach a motorway, you'll find the traffic has thinned out considerably, so it's not the ordeal that our stretch of the M1 is ;)

Google 'scotland' - it'll keep you occupied for days

Have to agree with the Scotland suggestion. There is nowhere more romantic than Edinburgh for a weekend break.

Other than that have you thought about a trip to Ireland? You can get across for next to nothing nowadays with the cheap flights.

(I recommend a weekend in Belfast)!

If you're going to Scotland - the less touristy places are my favourite

Perthshire is a good place to look ;)

Perhaps a weekend lobster trawling off the shore of Shetland?
