I recently registered for internet banking, however, to use it i need microsoft internet explorer version 6, according to the bank helpline it's a free download from the microsoft site.
the latest version for mac i can find is 5.2.3 and this doesn't work.
Has anybody had this problem and found a soloution? i'd be grateful for any advice, i can feel another bout of computer rage coming on!
Try a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox.
Companies often only mention IE as it's the one most people use (until they learn better) but they usually work with the newest versions of other popular browsers.

Cheers for that Nazo, I'll do that.
Having said that about Firefox I just tried FF out on a site of mine and it couldn't render what appears to me to be very clean CSS driven pages.
Weird.

I thought Internet explorer came with mac os. It came with my OSX tiger, hidden away in the applications, or utilities folder. Mind you I'm quite happy using Safari, haven't even touched IE!

But I think you'll find that Microsoft pulled the plug on IE for the Mac after version 5 - that's the last version there's going to be. Presumably in response to Apple doing their own thing with Safari.
Rather than trying to get IE working on your mac try telling the bank to get their site working properly. Obviously someone has been paid to do the job of building an accessible website which they obviously have not if it only works on IE.

Hade was spot on it was tucked away in applications, (panther edition) and works with the bank site so all's well, i'm not used to my laptop to be honest and only seem to use it for sorting music and photo's, still prefer my old G3 which is what i was trying to access the site from.
cheers for the help.
