I've decided to buy a TomTom for my hubby but there's so many haven't got a clue which one can anyone help please? :(

These are the things I'm unsure about before I buy

Size - is a small one best because it takes up less room on the dash or is a bigger one better because you can see it clearer?

Text to Speech or Traffic - there seems to be a good one on offer at Comet with this which the others don't have but I can't find out what it actually is and the one at Comet doesn't have 'traffic' on, which some of the others do but I don't really understand what traffic is either - which should I go for?

Cheapest or singing and dancing - I can afford up to £150 and would usually go with 'you get what you pay for' but there are so many deals on at the moment I'm not sure whether to go for cheapest on offer as these seem simple to use but with no gizmo stuff or to go for most I can afford with gizmos etc but might be more difficult to use.

Basically I want one that gets from A to B, with no hassle, picks up a signal well, is easy to use and appeals to a bloke rather than me as a girl!

Any ideas????

I don't claim to be any kind of an expert, but I would have though that one with the most up to date mapping would be a good move.
Certainly the older one I used in Nottingham recently was a bit of a liability as they've built a supertram system since it was made!

Have a look at http://www.pentagongps.co.uk/ they are on Penistone Road, S6 2FQ.

No connection with them myself, but they seem to have a good selection.

Thanks for all the above. The 530 looks good but bit over my price range, thanks for the pentagon link, I think I'm going to call in for advice as there is loads of choice.
Hubby has mentioned TomTom and so want to stick to that.

Still not sure what Text to speech is or importance of live traffic though if any one can help?

My OH has just bought a Tom Tom XL for £129.00 from Halfords. She had a Nav Man prior to this and says the Tom Tom is far superior. One of the good things about it is it has an integral bracket that folds up almost flat and all fits nicely into a little wallet (bought separately). It really is user friendly.

Just got a Tom Tom XL with free breakdown cover from Comet for £126; it was cheaper than Halfords next door (at Kilner Way), and theirs hadn't got the European mapping either. Don't know what it's like though cos we haven't taken it out of the box yet...

This is the one I was looking at online, shop was too busy to find anyone to ask about it! But still don't know what the text to speech is and this is what's missing from all the others that have the traffic thing on that this one doesn't - let me know if you find out what the text to speech thing is PLEASE
