Hi all,

I've recently registered to the forum in order to provide details of a new karate club that will be opening soon in Sheffield. The club will practice traditional Shotokan karate and is affiliated to the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain).

For those that have not heard of the KUGB, it is the largest single style martial arts organization in the UK. It is a democratic, non profit making organization which seeks to promote the practice of shotokan karate and concentrates on the development of a persons character.

Instruction will be provided by a 3rd dan (third degree black belt) qualified KUGB instructor with over 30 years experience in karate and other martial arts.

Beginners and practicing, or former practicing karate students, in particular former or current KUGB members, are welcome.

Training commences on 19 January 2009 at:

Verdon Recreation Centre
Verdon Street
Burngreave
Sheffield
S3 9QS

Training sessions are Mon 19.00 - 21.00 and Thurs 19.30 - 20.45 each week

For further details phone 07504 194307 or E mail bfotheringham@tiscali.co.uk

Are you taking over the Kurdish Karate group then?

Will it be linked to the Satori group based in Chesterfield?

I think its better to call it a regeneration in the sense that the club folded some time ago. I'm not sure what happened to the instructor, but he's no longer around and he didn't inform the KUGB office, so its still listed on the KUGB website under the old instructors name etc.

I will shortly be re-registering the club with the KUGB but with different contact details etc.

All the previous students that used to train there are welcome, as are new members.

As for links to Satori Chesterfield - yes, in the loose sense that I know many people that train there as well as the Barnsley club.

Regards

Hey all,

had some replies regarding the invitation to our event (JKA Shotokan Karate Course and Grading) so in a view of some of the replies ... if me posting our invitation on "your" thread bothers you or upsets you, I apologize. I didn't mean to upset anyone just wanted to let everyone know that such a event is on.

Have a nice day
