Does anyone remember the air raid shelters behind Pipworth Road School, and are they still there?

i remember them they were still there in the 80's when i was at pipworth but got filled in a short time after did you attend pipworth your self?

Yes, from the infants school, then juniors till I passed the 11+ in 1960 and went to Owler Lane, which was a complete waste of time as I still left at age fifiteen :loopy:

I lived on the Manor, left in 1975. I went to Pipworth Road School. I remember the air raid shelters on the fields at the back of the school. When we were playing on the fields after school, we used to dare each other to go in, but I was'nt brave enough, they smelled awful. I left the Estate before they were disposed of.
