View Full Version : Are there any places to walk dogs in Kenwood / Sharrow? lou070879 03-06-2005, 14:18 Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks mjlacey21 03-06-2005, 14:25 Only place I can think of is Mount Pleasant park on Abbeydale. It's not massively near though. It's where Sharrow festival is held. Plain Talker 03-06-2005, 14:32 The cleared area, within the General Cemetery is pleasant for dog-walking. (it's down at the Ecclesall Road side, there's a whole swathe of land cleared as a park, there) (Om various dates, the cemetery also do guided, informative/educational walks whichon the whole, dog-owners are welcome to attend, with their well-behaved dogs) If you are nearer the Hunters Bar side of Sharrow (rather than te london road side) , there are also the magnificent Botanical Gardens, which are fantastic for a stroll through, or if yyou are very energetic, walk through Endcliffe Park, and Whiteley Woods toward The Shepherd Wheel. PT lou070879 03-06-2005, 16:53 Thanks guys. I have noticed on 'multimap' that nr Kenwood rd there is a small clearing and an area of water? Does anyone know what that is? Does anyone know what that is? Thanks I can think of two ponds in the area, one is in the grounds of the St. George hotel and it is private so you'd be frowned upon if you went looking. The other bit is at the top of Sharrowvale and used to feed the water wheels that powered the machinery in the snuff mill that is still there. Although it looks very inviting this pond is also private land and you can't access it. The nearest area is definitely the General cemetary which is a very popular dog walking area or if you hike down to the Netheredge shops and then keep going up to Brincliffe Edge there is a largish area of woodland and allotments or Chelsea Park off to the right [again though a bit of a hike] peakma 03-06-2005, 21:06 not too far from chelsea park. But don't forget to pick up your poo! Plain Talker 03-06-2005, 21:51 the area off kenwood road is indeed the marriot hotel, wallbuilder is right. (it's a bit decieving, really, because it's shown on the map as"kenwood park", not the private land that it is in truth.) PT lou070879 04-06-2005, 09:13 Thanks again guys, no worries about picking up poo .. I go out armed with at least 8 poo bags on a walk, I hate it when people don't pick it up !!!! Decided not to move to Kenwood afterall ... need a bigger park, will stick to the Bingham area for now. xx ToryCynic 04-06-2005, 11:34 Originally posted by lou070879 Any advice would be appreciated.
