We have a cat that has adopted us after being abandoned when one of our neighboursmoved out and left him behind. We have no idea of his age etc, but he is very affectionate once he has gotten to know you. We did allow him in the house for a while but he started to spray the house after a couple of months which is not good with a baby crawling around. Talking of children, he is quite wary of kids and as we have a very boisterous 3 yr old and 1 yr old in the house, this is another reason we can't keep him. He would really suit someone with no kids/grown up family. He does seem able to get along with friendly dogs, he is wary of ours but they have an uneasy truce most of the time. He has lived outside through the summer, and continues to do so, but with the weather turning pretty nasty and cold I hate leaving him out there, and would realy appreciate it if somone could help. We have tried rescue centres etc but they never seem to have a space for him.

Sounds like this boy isn't neutered - which is prob. the reason why he is spraying around the place.
Where does he go to get warm at night _ any idea? Its not bad if he can get snuggled in somewhere, but its freezing if not. I have lots of ferrals that live happily outside in straw and bales - and wouldn't welcome being brought in - but if they are friendly cats - then I sure they will feel the cold.

Couldn't you get him spayed? Send us a picture to the website and a write up and we could feature him on there looking for a nice home? We do get a fair amount of interest via our site

Hello,

I've no idea if he's neutered to be honest. I've always been more of a dog person - my sister had to tell what sex it was when he first started hanging round! Im not sure where he goes at night, he generally hangs around outside our house through the day, poking his head through the window meowing for food. Thanks for the advice about the website, I'll try to get some pics of him and post them. I really hate to see him outside especially now the weather has become cold. The trouble is, he is getting so independant now that when I have relented when the weather has been especially bad and let him into the porch, he meows to be let back out and then sits on the step and meow to come back in again- its like he needs to know that he can get out if he wants to. I suppose that is what happens when they become accustomed to looking after themselves.

Thanks again, I'll take your advice.

Lol it's quite easy to tell with male cats-unless he's long haired you should be able to see the "b*l*s" just under the bum at the base of the tail between the legs. If he has ben done there will be nothing there.
