View Full Version : When is the Summer going to start?
Jillybabes 03-06-2005, 11:53 Im sure I speak for most people when I say I am sick of the weather. As I look out of my window now its raining and miserable. When are we actually going to get some nice weather. I know its typical british summer weather but come on God give us a break we need some nice warm weather to cheer us all up. I'm fed up of wearing coats and long sleeved tops when we want to be wearing shorts and vests, and sandals and lazing around on our back gardens and having barbeques. Come on Summer hurry up and get here!

Did mummy never tell you to keep your peaks covered? Still, you'll have had the pleasure of the missus rubbing some savlon on them.
Bound to be nice next week when I should have been going on holiday!
awwww, well take heart if its nice here it will chuck it down and be horrid where ever it was you was going :)
It hardly rained from Febraury til May. People forget the hot days and only remember the rainy ones.
I think it's a very British thing to moan about the weather, we have a good variety of the stuff. Enjoy walking in the rain ;-)
Can't.... It's sunny again here :(
[quotw] when is the summer going to start [/quote]
... well I reckon... July 2007
ohh well in that case i best put the BBQ back in the shed, ide started dusting it off for the turkey :(

:D
SilverMagic 03-06-2005, 15:13 I think we've had quite a good year so far. Yeah it's rained but it's been very warm some days as well which means the rain is welcomed to feed the grass and plants etc. Like someone else said - we always seem to complain about the grotty days and forget the lovely days we've had this year. I say bring on the summery showers! :P
onedizzybird 03-06-2005, 15:26 i think that we're in for a scorcher this summer, come august i dare say that some will be complaining of the heat. i read in the paper some time ago that we will have a heat wave in august. whilst i don't really take weather forcasts as fact i do think that a late start to the summer is more consistant with us having a great one. in the years gone by when the heat has come early it has tended to be short lived and sunny days were sparce in july and august, whereas when summer has seemed to be belated we have generally had a really good one lasting through to early october.... just a bit of food for thought
Guderian 04-06-2005, 06:31 Its going to start next Tuesday, about Teatime.

Don't know if I can agree with this.
1989 started as early as April, went through May and into August. (By September Howden Reservoir was bone dry.) I do remember it raining quite a bit in August and September though, but May inparticular was really hot.
1984 I think started fairly early. I was in Scotland for a week in April and the sun shone every day. That went on to be a superb summer.
1976 started in April, and we went on to have something like 6 weeks without any rain. That was by far the longest, hottest, craziest summer in my life (I was 6 and 7).
I do think that summers are coming later, that April is now June (ie, showery) and that we can expect the best sunshine in August and September.
In the meantime, we wait.
i think the weather we have had is good, bit scary at times as one day its scorching hot the next its freezing but thats global warming for ya! i only work part time now but when i worked full time i used to feel as though all the nice days where when i worked and it ALWAYS rained on my days off:mad:
salacious 04-06-2005, 23:05 i reckon the climate is in the process of being well and truly f*cked. Winter is warmer and drier. Summer is cooler and wetter. Soon, no seasons.
They have said tonight that warm weather is on its way next week sometime after Tuesday.
craigmason 15-06-2008, 18:56 When will the scorching hot weather start all we have now is below average temperatures and showers.
This month is supposed to be flaming june i would have thought we would have temps of 25-28 degrees every day and we all to be walking around in shorts a t-shirts .
probably in December
Had 1 or 2 days on my new motorbike
then rained every time i started it up

that's the answer we are taking the power from the sun:hihi:
Alastair 15-06-2008, 19:20 Summer officially starts on 21st June, so that's next Saturday.
Today it was spring and decent sunny weather if a little cool. So stop mithering.
It shouldn't be more than a few weeks now before the British summer really starts. Temperatures will perhaps soar to as high as 18 c., when people will start keeling over with heat stroke and council workmen will [ more or less ] be digging up roads in the nude. They'll be growing grapes in Aberdeen and swimming at midnight in the sea at Scarborough. At that point the Global Warming Experts will say, " We told you so. " Then, around the end of July, it'll be back to rain, wind and the odd touch of morning frost. ' Have a nice day ' as they say in America...........or maybe 2 or 3 days ?

Did you see the post before yours was from June 2005 ? :)
It's strange. We are not that far away, yet our weather has been wonderful for the couple of months. Some rain, but not a lot. Temperatures good, plenty of sunshine. Summer the way it used to be.
that's the answer we are taking the power from the sun:hihi:

I got on my brother's motorbike once and went up and down our pot-holed road as it was then, he had to run out to stop it. I've been on two since but as a passenger, can't see me going on one again, Darbees has one I believe.
You remember I like convertible cars, is that what you mean?:D
