I was wondering if anyone can help. I am 23year old female who is desperatly seeking a plumbing apprenticship or similar, I am more than happy to pay for my own training. I have been doing the Train for Trade skills plumbing course but am finding without the practical knowledge I am not learning anything. Any help would be greatefully received.

I am currently doing plumbing (level 2 equivalent), heating and solar panels is the full train 4 trade skills course that I am doing. So I think I will pretty much cover all the skills. I am a firm believer that if I am going to do something its worth doing right. Any help would be greatfully accepted.

We are a small plumbing company specialising in the domestic market. Think this is probably the best market for you to work in. There are many times when we have been told " if i could have got a woman to do this job you would,nt be here" This includes male customers ! Current workloads for many companies is down but there is still lots of work out there for the right people. We are looking to expand in the new year & if you send us your details we will keep you in mind. david@slingsby131060.fsnet.co.uk

They are like rocking horse doo dah. Good luck though, I know there is funding out there for prospective employers, so maybe get all the info needed and approach employers with what help they can get.

My nephew started a plumbing and heating course in Bradford, booked via ableskills.co.uk - he called in tonight to see me and said he's had a really good week. He says one of the chaps on the course said there's a woman down his street does plumbing, has a pink van, and has been so busy she has ended up taking on 7 staff to cope!
It is an expensive course but luckily for him the Navy has paid for it. However, his wife starts the tiling course next week through same company but her course is down in London area.
Both lead to qualifications and his course will includes 4 months on a placement.
