Hi i'm having problems trying to get on the net on my desk top,when i log on i just get a error message, it reads "the proxy server is refusing connections".I don't think it's my provider as my laptop can access the net fine.Any help would be much appreciated.

That sounds like a firefox specific error? I get this if I use firefox and the server at work which acts as a proxy needs a reboot.

even if not, check whichever browser you are using is set to use a proxy.

your proxy settings are wrong... do you use a proxy server ?? try the following
in firefox options / preferences > advanced > network > settings > auto - detect

internet explorer (why are you using ths ;) ) > tools > options > connections > LAN settings > auto detect > once corrected / working google firefox download install enjoy
