View Full Version : Graham Norton to host Eurovision
I think this is the worst news ever.

Caroline Flack and Paddy whats-his-name that did the semi finals last year should have done it :(
pippadoll 07-12-2008, 16:53 I think this is fabulous; it had become so dull over the last few years, camping up the presentation may bring me back. But they have to change the voting system....
Rocklegend 07-12-2008, 17:20 Wogan said last year he was disgruntled at all the political voting and said we should pull out.Now hes gone the UK should follow.
PuressenceUK 08-12-2008, 21:39 No more Terry means no more viewing from me, he was the only thing that made it bearable!
No, just, no.
Eurovision's bad enough as it is with UK getting "nil points" every year, and little tiny East European countries about 3 people in the rest of the world have heard of, all palling up and voting for each other, sickening it is!
We've had some pants entries over the years, but whoever entered that "Flying the Flag" abomination last year officially wants shooting IMO.
Wogan was the only thing that kept it (barely) watchable in the UK
I can only hope this means the end to it here. It's a feckin farce anyway.
bjshooter 09-12-2008, 02:04 It is the most pointless few hours of tv ever. I read the title and thought, Graham that would work. But I forgot Terry with his dry oh my god why are we even here comments, he was genius at it.
pitsmoorlad 09-12-2008, 08:26 Not going to watch it now. Lately it's been watchable for 2 things.
1. Wogan's comments, which got better as the night wore on. I think they just stuck him in a little studio with a microphone and a bottle of whiskey.
2. The ridiculous voting system, that meant we could enter a song performed by a super band of Cream, The Who, Pink Floyd, and Paul McArtney, yet still only get 4 points.
We pay a lot of money to this event every year, more than most, and then sit back while the Balkan Bloc and the Russian Bloc stitch us up. What mugs we are.
And in 2009 Andrew Lloyd Webber's going to be involved. ??????? So what ?
swordfish1 09-12-2008, 09:23 The UK, Germany, France, Spain and the previous years winners are automatically in the Eurovision. Why? Because we virtually pay for it. I suppose it's along the same vein as the British reputation for masochism, we pay to get humiliated and beaten.
haddockman 09-12-2008, 11:14 I won't be watching if it's not Wogan!
I think it will be ok, would be better if Norton and Wogan did it alongside each other though.
Didn't Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber do an article a few weeks ago about how he was determined to win Eurovision this year?
pippadoll 09-12-2008, 13:20 Yes Norton and Wogan, now that would be hilarious. In recent years I have only switched on for the voting.... how sad am I.
ohmyword 10-12-2008, 15:19 Wogan is a true legend! I used to really look forward to Eurovision. Now it will be unbearable. I am really upset. Obviously, I wish Sir Terry all the best, but what a poor replacement Norton is!
Does anyone have any opinions as to who would be a good replacement? Personally I reckon the following would do a great job:
* Bruce Forsyth - like Sir Terry, Bruce is a national institution. Everyone loves Bruce!
* Jeremy Kyle - an intelligent man. His shifts between benevolence and bellicosity would suit the show real good!
* Nick Abbot - an outsider, but a really good choice. Former Virgin Radio shock jock, more recently on LBC. He is a kind but firm man. He often used to make fun of Latvia's entries.

My Bold.
No, just, no... :gag:  :loopy:
His own show is craptacular as it is! (and no, I do not watch it)
ohmyword 11-12-2008, 10:01 His show definitely becomes tedious after a few minutes, but Jeremy himself would do well in the Eurovision environment. Maybe he could replace Graham Norton following mass public protest.
Yet more eurovision disappointment in the following story:

We;ve given up before we've even begun ! Will have to see the show tonight :)
Ousetunes 03-01-2009, 12:09 Can't they merge this dross with its sister, Big Brother, cram the likes of Norton and McCall all together and nuke the thing?
Go on, do us a favour and throw in Eastenders, Hollyoaks and Crappy Nation Street whilst you're at it.
