Have you been to Copenhagen? I'm going to be there for a couple of days and wondered what it's like. I've Googled it and found a general list of attractions but no opinions.
Is it a dump? Is it expensive? Is it touristy? Reveal all....!

Copenhagen is a groovy place.
Some excellent shopping to be done, silver and amber are worked extensively in the city.
A good choice of scandinavian design in most things, clothes, furniture, textiles, fittings etc.
There's the little mermaid (usually festooned in Italian tourists) not worth it unless you are an HC Andersen fan IMO.
Just wandering around what is essentially a normal city is very pleasant. Not too touristy at all, and a rough guide should sort you for things to see and do.
Get down to nyhamn for some lunch, the tivoli gardens are a bit tacky, but for what is essentially a funfair, they do have some pretty nice (and pricey) jazz clubs and eateries and nice gardens
And get some beer down you. I gather Tuborg and Carlsberg merged some time ago, but Tuborg was ever the better beer, so if you can find Elefant Ol, then enjoy.
Also, try and get invited somewhere in denmark for breakfast on a Sunday. Unless you are a teetotal vegetarian, in which case you will hate it.
Try Gamle Dansk with your black coffee too, perfect breakfast tipple.

i went last year with uni on a field trip for five days and thoroughly enjoyed it. the city centre is really nice and pretty and there are loads of shops and cool bars and pubs. the river/water areas are also really nice - its worth taking a trip on the river boat to see the little mermaid, not because the mermaid itself is anything special, but because the trip down the river is a good way to sight see! it is fairly expensive, but no more than london in my opinion :)

I really liked Copenhagen. Went there recently. Many people say that the Little Mermaid is not worth a visit, but it is my favourite story in the whole wide world and if you do go and see her...it is very wistful. She has suffered some hard abusive times though over the years, what with being daubed with paint and having her head knocked off. The walk back from there is lovely...I came across a huge square that looked very majestic (just as my camera ran out of film!). Also, there are lots of lovely cafes and restaurants along one of those canals..but I can not remember the name. Phan might know! It is a beautiful city.
