You can get some good bargains if you know what you're looking for. My OH got all his bits to build this pc from there for less than 200 quid, including a 300gb hard drive.

Used to be full of second gear and very helpful "geeks" - now it just appears to be a retail outlet for traders.

I'd say it depends what you're looking for. If its something relatively small you'll have to take into account the high entrance fee of £3 (last time I went).

I will agree that it has gone downhill recently. Better bargains can be found elsewhere without looking too hard.

Yes the admission fee puts me off, paying £3 to spend 30 minutes max just looking round if you have nothing in particular that you want.

I've yet to find a computer fair that can match the prices of big name warehouse places like Scan and Dabs.

Complete waste of time, unless you want to pay to sift through a load of old tat for an hour.

I bought some computer speakers Logitec 220 £15, there are cheaper on the retail web sites but with delivery they work out more expensive. My advise is Know what you want check the prices online before, and dont buy without a receipt. Enjoy.

100% agreed, I used to love going, chatting about north bridges and south bridges with cardigan wearing, beard stroking geeks who I looked upto....now I suppose I'm one of the geeks (although I'm more of a sweatshirt kind of guy)

The last time I went it was just overly priced self builds and reconditioned garbage at silly prices - I buy from the internet only now - I've got a couple of good suppliers and they've always been good with returns if needed.

My advice is whatever you want - buy it online....there's nothing quite like the feeling of building your first computer and realising how much better it is than the rubbish they sell on the highstreet

I go every couple of months for printer ink I've tried to buy on line but can't find it cheaper than the computer fair at Don Valley. As others have said its mostly just dealers now, I still like to look round but it's not what it used to be.

I used to buy ink from the fair but found it was just as cheap at Copycats in Rotherham, not sure whether it will still be as cheap though.
