View Full Version : Anybody been to the Index sale?
scatterheart 02-06-2005, 13:55 Just had a look at the Index website and noticed they are having a closing down sale (you can't view products online anymore). The site claims they have some quite hefty discounts across the board, just wondered if anyone had been into the one in town and whether it's worth a look? We might be needing furniture and appliances soon, so is it worth a trip into town for
beansfeast 02-06-2005, 14:00 I've just noticed this too, and I remember I walked past the store about a week ago and it had the most pathetic reductions in the windows... things like radios for £15 with £1.50 off etc...
Wasn't worth lifting my head to read them! And unless anything drastic has happened it still won't be...
Its all fine and well as long as you like to insert cat number and all you get is "out of stock" unless you want some Lego :D
I got some storage things yestersay, was £12 got them for £8, not bad, considering was going to go to argos!!

Sounds like a normal trip to Index then!
Anyone know the actual date they're closing? :)
Providing they have stock of what you want (unlikely, as the sale has been on for at least a fortnight) you can pick up a 'reasonable' bargain; about 10% off most prices.
The jewellery is good value for money too, with as much as 30% off, depending on the item.

Oh yes, they had completely sold out of large hooped earrings and clown pendants :hihi:
Do index do fridges and freezers and that kinda stuff? I have never even been in, and to be honest not 100% sure where it is!
Think they do fridges. The lady who served me today didnt know when they were closing, they just have to wait until the stock runs out.
Customers were being so rude and giving the staff such a hard time because they cant accept returns any more. Feel really sorry for them, they arnt paid enough to be spoken to like dirt! Just remember eveything is non-returnable now!!
i just got a flyer through the door for argos and index's big clearance sale on sunday. at the novotel hotel, 4pm? some amazing prices on there, looks kinda dodgy tho! anyone else seen this? i want to go but it doesn't sound completely legit!
I went and bought items which should have cost £40 for £36 but managed to get twice as many for the money. In other words I got a great saving.
The only drawback is there is no discount on home delivered items such as white goods and furniture.
I think this is because most of it stays at the manufacturer until shortly before distribution, I imagine Index are only selling their pre-purchased stock and no longer selling items which they have to order themselves.
If you are looking for toys or small household items, it can save compared to Argos's normal prices.
i went to index this mornin bcos i heard they have got a "sale" on.
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!

Think I'll give it a miss then, that's all I'd be wanting :P
Howard's post looked interesting:

Anybody else know anything about this?
i'm gonna go check out this thing at the hotel, anyone else get a flyer? prices sound too good to be true, and its just a sheet of paper with blue print on.
edit: i went down and they said it was cancelled, no reason given or no new date scheduled. the guy i spoke to at the hotel thought it sounded dodgy as well, he thought something definetely wasn't right, they only accepted cash as well.
Dandelion 11-06-2005, 17:23 I work there :(
There is at least 20% off everything!
Theres 50% - 70% off rings / 50% off mens Jew.
We have stoped doing HDO items (big stuff that start with a letter)
It worth a look but there is a lot out of stock!
