Golden Compass - Christmas Day.

Judging by the amount of Golden Compass merchandise now being flogged off in every pound shop you go into, it must have bombed big time.

The movie wasn't that good IMO, not even for a kiddy movie... I saw it on the Cinema last year.

Personally I think I'll be spending most of Christmas Day in the Utility Room on my Xbox, that and working Christmas night up at the Hospital radio station, I tried to get out of it, cos it means either Mum or Dad won't be able to drink as one of them will have to drive me there due to the lack of buses, but there'll be Patients in the Wards over Christmas still, and they'll be wanting to be entertained.

As always i will buy my one and only Radio Times of the year hoping to find something good on Christmas Day and be faced with something i've seen a million times before on at the crucial 3:10pm slot (which has been nap time the last few years!)

Hope I get proved wrong this year.

That said, I do like it when they run a later night series like Hitchcock films or something.

There seems to a film on at christmas that is repeated quite often. When a look at my tv guide it says Film to be anounced. i have not heard of this particular film but if it repeated quite a few times over christmas, it must be good

Cracking Christmas film on tonight at 9pm on Discovery.

Boys from Brazil! What a film to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Remember, a dobermann is not just for Christmas

I'll eat my hat if The Great Escape isn't on, probably on Boxing Day (it's always on!)

There was a Christmas TV preview in one of the newspapers a few weeks ago. There were a few TBA but from what was published it's going to be a very crappy Christmas TV-wise.

The tradition of the big Christmas film seems a bit redundant these days, given that by the time Christmas roles around most folk have seen whatever film it is on DVD (bought from Tesco for £3).

I'll be looking out for a day filled with Mythbusters specials, or 'The World's most Blood-spattered Forensic Gore-fests' on Discovery, or some such thing, to intersperse with my Scrooged, Brief Encounter and Singin' in the Rain DVDs.

I think I'll watch Nicolas Nickleby and Harry Potter on Christmas day. Would've liked to have seen Golden Compass though as not seen it yet, but I don't have Sky.

Also need to buy my once yearly Radio Times.

Aside from the Doctor Who special, my TV viewing over Christmas will be whatever blurays I open on the day (including the films bought for the kids).

Hey Rich,

How bout giving your Mum or Dad a break Christmas Day, you could alway's get a taxi so you can do the Hospital Radio and everyone's happy. :)

Thought Miracle on 34th Street was on a little early!.. but spose that leaves more room for 'Elf', 'Scrooged', 'Home Alone', 'The Santa Clause' etc...

My favourite is It's a Wonderful Life, closely seconded by the Santa Clause films (especially the first one), but if the "powers that be" don't put them on, we have them on dvd, so it's settle down, pour out the Baileys and open the chocs - bliss.

I looked through the telly guide for Christmas last night and had to chuckle at the number of films based on Scrooged. Whether it be the original or one of the various remakes. They're all on on the few days before Christmas Day.

Taxi?! Sod that, unless I can claim the fare back, they always hike the prices during Christmas.

Call me tight but I refuse to be out of pocket for a voluntary position, cue accusations of "workshy", falsehood, I am perfectly willing to work Christmas Eve and Day if they want me to.
