Hi there, I lived on Roe lane up until last year & have lived there on & off since about 1975. I moved onto there when I was about 5. Mum & Dad split up so we moved off when I was about 10, then my Dad bought 2 houses on there, he used to rent 1 out to students in the 80s, then later on he moved into one of them & sold the other. My Dad died in 2006. We did his house up ( Dad wasnt one for mod cons ) moved into it, unfortunately it wasnt big enough for us, so had to sell it. I really miss Roe Lane spent most of my childhood & adulthood on there, it has a lovely friendly feel about it & most of the people that lived on there while I was growing up, still live on there now!!

Were any of you or your parents involved in the movement to get the Mojo club closed down? if so,shame on you.:):):)Seriously though, was it that loud?I know that a petition was going round and my mate's mum who lived at no.71 refused to sign.

Yes. My gran lived at number 20, a few doors away from the Mojo, in the sixties. She was one of the mainstays of the petition, mainly cos my grandad had an industrial disease and had to take early retirement from the works.

I've always felt a perverse pleasure about how she tried to close down whats now considered to be an icon of Sheffield popular culture:D, but he really was ill and late night Tremaloes can't have been good for him !

My Uncle Alec (Tom to some) and Auntie Margaret lived there from, I think, the early 60's until his death 1978. He was certainly involved in the Mojo closure as it used to "drive him mad"
I never went there but had friends who did and who were very angry when it was closed down so I had to keep my Uncle as a secret.
