There was a notice attached to a lamp-post near the tram stop this morning saying that groups of 2 or more people acting in an anti-social manner between 9pm and 6am would be removed by the police.
How long has this been in force ?

flippin' eck! better get some bigger custody suites down at the old West Bar nick then!! That must cover at least 85% of the people in town at those hours!
so you can behave in an anti-social manner if you are on your own. :loopy:
They probably think one person is not much of a threat.
after 9pm? what ? so if i go in town with two of my friends and we get a bit merry we could potentially be arrested?
Thats how I read it.
I don't think "merry" is the same as "anti-social" though.

get a bit merry and start abusing people, vandalising things, smashing bottles, yep, pretty much.
In fact, you can be arrested at any time for behaving anti socially, so maybe all the notice is doing is bringing it to the forefront of peoples minds.

I quite like the concept of these curfews, means the rest of us decent people not intent on antisocial behaviour can have a reasonable night out. I get quite annoyed by the dregs who end up getting as refreshed as a newt, p*ssing, fighting and generally behaving like animals - bring on those asbos!
but i guess its what they class as being anti-social? is being drunk and loud ? if so they're going to have to arrest half of sheffield on a friday and saturday night !!
i heard this was a new idea, being piloted in a couple of cities, and its so they can tell a group of people to move on if they're are behaving anti-socially and if they don't they can arrest them.
i'm not sure what's so new about it tho.
I suppose this means there will be more police in town at night ?

not really, you wouldn't get an asbo for it would you!
Unless you are being loud in a residential area and disturbing people, in which case, yes.

I didn't know about this but it seems like a good idea. Better still if it applied to all hours.

I thought this had always unofficially been in place.
I'm thinking breach of the peace and drunk and disorderly (aka winding up a copper, and winding up a copper when you're leathered).
If you are making a nuisance of yourself, the police can do summat about it curfew or no. Just seems there's never one about when you want one.
