View Full Version : Ooo no I've drunk my contact lenses!
o poo.
ive managed to drink my contact lenses:help:
i was so silly - i couldnt find my lense case one night, so i put them in a plastic water bottle (like evian or something) with a bit of water.
then i put the bottle somewhere around my room...and forgot about them for a while.
then today i wanted to wear my contact lenses for a change but couldnt find them.
then i remembered about the bottle , but realised that over the past couple of weeks ive been filling up various water bottles from my room and taking them to drink on way to work etc.
so they have been drunk...
but im not sure when the incedent exactly took place..
DOPE!
should i be worried??????????????????????????????:suspect:
Kthebean 01-06-2005, 20:12 EWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: to try and be more helpful, dont worry, I'm sure you'll be fine!
AJ sheffield 01-06-2005, 20:15 A few years ago my mate swallowed his newly fitted crown. He was so upset by it, he waited until he had to lay some cable and actually tried to fish it out. He never found it though, had to have another fitted :(
They might show up next time you have to drop the kids off.
(Did I just say that?) Sorry.
You could try to retrieve them but if your heart isn't in it you might feel like you're just going through the motions.
(I will stop now). Promise.
They'll help you see the future - you'll be seeing your own end.
:D
I'm sorry - are they hard or soft? If they're soft I wouldn't worry but I suppose a well positioned hard lens might cause a little pain.
Years ago a friend of mine accidentally soaked his hard lenses in industrial detergent and then didn't rinse them properly. His eyes were swollen for days afterwards and we had a hell of a job getting them out.
Good Luck!

Kristian 01-06-2005, 21:04 A friend of mine drank her contacts once; she sufferred no ill effects (they were soft ones).
Even if you do <cough> discover them again, DON'T attempt to reuse them. Think of how sensitive your eyes are, and how many germs there are in your intestines! :gag:
BrainThrust 01-06-2005, 23:52 I have disposable contact and regulary eat them if i have nowhere to throw them away (if i am at someone's house and i'm very drunk i'll take em out, eat them and then not think about it). Better than leaving soft plasticy things on people's floors!

You should never store your lenses or clean them in water.

no, he's quite the Monsieur Mangetout - also famed for drinking glue - http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?postid=168827#post168827
heifitz, have you tried daily disposables? If you don't wear your lenses very often, you might get better value for money and not have to worry about storing, cleaning etc.
hoegarden 02-06-2005, 10:33 BT : you say you did it "to be able to say I once drank a shot glass of glue"
why did you want to be able to say this?
BrainThrust 02-06-2005, 17:38 I don't really see what the problem is with eating/drink soft contacts. I mean all they are is a bit of plastic? what is it going to do to you other than not be able to be digested?
As for the glue, it was a bet, I won the bet, I stand by my reasoning to do something that I had made sure wasn't going to put me in any unecessary risk.
Come on people, live a little, do something crazy for once. stop caring about the little insignificant things so much.

Some time ago I underwent an operation in the Hallamshire hospital to remove my Gall Bladder.
After the Gall Bladder op they present you with the Gall stones in a plastic container.
The man in the bed opposite was always a late riser, the nurses were always nagging him to get up, take his tablets, eat his breakfast etc.
One morning they asked him to take his tablets several times, eventually the nurse told him that he had to take them and she was going to help him with them.
Sitting up, he insisted he had taken them to which she argued that he hadn't as she had them in her hand.
They then realised that from a prone position in the bed he had reached up, grabbed the plastic carton holding his Gallstones and swallowed the lot.
Apart from the patient no one seemed really bothered about this situation so I doubt if a couple of contact lenses would do much harm.
Happy Days!
