I'd love to see any storys about people who have really tried to loss weight, I managed 7 stone loss in under a year and i've not put it back on... I thought it was easy, If you hate yourself enough then your mind will train itself and your body will follow with cardio and eatting right.

If your truely unhappy with your weight then i think it just a matter of time before you find out how easy it is, unless there is a medical reason for it.. then i don't know..

Any comments ?

Congratulations on the change of mindset & the weight loss :)

Personally I disagree with you about hating yourself being the kick start you need to change. I'd say the opposite - to do what is good for your body then you have to be prepared to like yourself.

Well done Paul! That's amazing, I don't agree though (you did ask)

I have put on a lot of weight, but the trouble is, there are some people who when they go through bad times they just stop eating, others comfort eat. I comfort eat, so I get down cos I'm fat, then I comfort eat, then I'm fat cos I comfort eat etc. etc.
It's a vicious circle. It also depends on what else you're going through. I'm having a lot of trouble at home at the moment with family problems and that doesn't help!

Also, it is a scientific fact (I do AS Biology and that's where I learnt it) that it's easier for males to lose weight than women. This is because of where you put the weight on. However, this does mean that men are more prone to heart attacks because their weight can yo yo easier.

Just wanted to add my opinion there, seeing as you'd asked!

yeah i guess it does depend what is going on in your life and it really is hard to find time sometimes, even if you miss a jog one day, you have to make sure you do try to make up for it or you will lose the will to do it, being as you start thinking, well i did't go yesterday and i can't today, i might as well give up, that sounds silly. but it does happen..

I fully understand about the loop of sadness and eatting, understanding it is the start to breaking out of it, because now you know what it is, u can attempt to stop yourself, when u know its happening..

I don't have kids and i'm sure that effects the time you have to train is big ways..

yeah, the other thing is, I have to rely completely on eating the right things and do it slowly as I'm disabled and can't go for jogs etc. I tried swimming but you lose enthusiasm when it's such a fath as I have a colostomy.
So, I think, if I could train, then instead of eating when I'm bored or upset I'd go out running, but I can't.

I'm hoping to get a dog, which will get me out of the house more and at least walking a bit.

I've also bought myself a smoothie maker so that when I'm hungry I make myself a healthy fruit smoothie instead of something to eat!

I will do it...somehow...

sounds like your mind set is about right, good luck with the training, not that you need it because you will do it and achive what you want to if you believe so...

WOW WOW WOW!
Omigod you look fantastic! (not trying to chat you up by the way! just very pleased for you!)
Well done. you've even tempted me to go out for a jog this evening. maybe...

Lotti - good luck sweetie! I know it must be very difficult to loose weight when the exercise you can do is restricted - maybe you could try something like toning tables? (they do them at sherbert gym on the Moor)

Wow! That's a brilliant story. You should be dead proud!

I'd like to go jogging but feel a bit embarrased and am sure I wouldn't even manage 10 mins. And my face goes a bright purple colour.

I've managed to get out running again and I just feel 100% better both physically but more, mentally.

I was in York about two to three months ago and decided to weigh myself outside the perfume shop on Coney Street. The needle shot up to 15 stone. I'm 5'11" and of a slightly larger than medium build. Whilst I don't look like a fatso, I certainly carry more than I should.

Anyway, since then I've lost half-a-stone and equipped with a good running programme managed to run 60 miles in the month of May. I've always enjoyed running but life's led me through some corridors where running wasn't always possible. Now it is possible (my daughters are growing up and at school/nursery) and apart from getting some freedom back, I'm using the time to reclaim both my body and my sanity!

I still drink too much, but try to look forward to a big drink at the end of the week, when I've completed that week's distance (presently around 14-18 miles a week) and earned it.

I'm a different person at the mo!

thats a great distance, if your eatting right the weight should be dropping off you..

One thing i should point out, i'm sure a lot of you know this, but the last stone of 2, before you ideal weight is so hard to get off, but it does so keep going...

A Sample of this, i was 19 stone and the weight flew off until i got till 13, which is prob my ideal, for my build and height, but from my peak of losing nearly a stone a week, it dropped to 2-3 pounds a week...

This was because
1. I was gettin close to my ideal weight and the whole i was fitter thing...
2. Also i havent changed my jog recently, so my hour long jog of 6 miles was not working so great, if i had changed to a 30mins 4 mile fast paced jog, it would have..

So you gotta remember, your body is smarter then u think and it does get used to training, so u have to vary things.

Well done Paul, you look great. I love the tatts!

I had a look at your website this morning, it's brilliant and inspiring. I haven't trained in ages but you inspired me to get my ass back into gear!! I did an hour on my strider, which has been gathering dust since early April  Just got to force myself to keep at it now  Well done!!

i do think your website is brilliant - and i think youre helping loads of people to beleive they can shift the weigth too - which is fab.
but...
a stone a week?? really??!! if its true then surely it cant be too healthy to loose so quickly?

paulhagerty
02-06-2005, 18:43
it was true, only happened for a few weeks, was like 14, 12 then 8pounds and 6 other weeks....

I doubt very much that its healthly, but i have no big health problems, so i guess i could risk it, and i'm still here...

I wouldent really advice anyone to do it, i'm not a doctor, just saying what i did really..

please no one kill yourselfs, lol

Yes well done Paul... I am also on a diet.. I got to the stage at the beginning of this yar that I was getting a bit fat... and some friends at work were on the weightwatchers stuff....

The around March time I went on it as well... completely changed what I eat... cut out crisps/fatty stuff/chocolate/pizzas/mcdonalds crap/ and started to eat healthy food.

I watched my points and started to read what was on the food labels... that was enought to shcok anyone.

Just changing what you eat is a easy way to loose weight... cut the crap food out and you cannot go wrong.... I now feel better .... lost weight .... can even feel the loss round my waist.....

... altogether lost over a stone, now down to 12st, soon I will need new clothes, and I am not even tempted to eat the crap food anymore.

It might be a bit more expensive ... but the end result is what I want..... loose weight.

My smoothie maker has arrived! I have also been dancing! I taught two friends of mine a cha cha routine and a disco freestyle routine, gentle because they hadn't done it before, for one hour, non stop.

YES! I've got my lesson tomorrow and I feel I'm on the right track!

The trouble is, I'm at home on study leave and there's biscuits downstairs....

But there is also the smoothie maker....

I will do my best! I ate two donuts today :gag: and felt so angry at myself!

Paul McKenna tomorrow! I'm going to start listening to him every day properly. The trouble is I'm tense... you have to relax for it to work, I don't like lying on the living room floor (you're supposed to lay straight) because I have this hang up about spiders running out from under things, and I can't lie on the sofa cos it's too small. I can't lie on my floor for the same reason I can't do sit ups etc. on the floor, the cat comes and sits on me and I can't get the headphones to the bed... so I have to hope the cat will ignore me if I lie on my bedroom floor to listen to it...

I will let you know how I get on!

And also Paul, I know what you mean, I only need to lose about a stone to a stone and a half so it's harder. I'm a naturally heavy person, I'm about 5ft4 or 5 i think and I weight 11stone. I think my ideal weight is about 10 stone but no less than 9stone7 when I was in hospital I was like a rake and I was 9 stone 3lbs so that makes me feel better knowing, I'm just heavy...
My boyfriend weighs less than me
