Hi just wondered if anyone had been to 'sunny beach' in Bulgaria.
If so did you travel with the tour company Balkan Holidays.
Seen a few reasonable hol deals to this resort with the above tour company, never really heard of 'Balkan Hols' before
so just wondered if anyone had used them before too.
Looked on all the related review sites which give mixed comments some dating back to 2003 when i understand the resort was becoming more popular.
Any HONEST feedback would be appreciated. thanxs.

Do you know what? I went to Bulgaria and stayed in a villa near Sunny Beach and it was with Balkan Holidays.

It is still my favourite holiday that I have ever had!*

Make sure that if you get the chance, you go across the Black sea on a cruise to Turkey.

*This was a while ago, so things might have changed.

Went to Bulgaria ,Sunny beach,a couple of years ago .Also flew with Balkan Holidays.
It was one of the best hols we have ever had .
The plane was a bit old but the flight was excellent ,didn't know we had landed.:D
The people are very friendly and everything was sooooooooo cheap.
Bottle of red wine was about 80p
Clothes were very cheap too
Food was hit and miss in places but once you find a good restuarant you can't go far wrong. Can't buy steak anywhere.but may have changed now.
Don,t book trips via reps its far cheaper to go via taxi, when we where there the taxi drivers gave you a card with there name and number ,find one with air con and use them for trips.Very reliable.
Have a great time.:D

In 1999 went to a small resort just north on Varna on the Black Sea, I think it was called St Constantine to see the total eclipse of the sun.
It had a friendly atmosphere and is great if you've got kids. :)
It was also very cheap - less than a fiver for a 3 course meal with wine for 2 of us:thumbsup:

Bulgaria is cool - went a couple of years ago, stayed between Albena and Golden Stands. Albena was nice, Varna was a great day out to.
And REALLY cheap. And beer in KFC, 30p a pint

Bulgaria is cheap beyond imagination. Seriously, it is difficult to spend your holiday money there. £7 quid maximum for a 3 course meal, eating the most expensive items on a menu, and including a good bottle of plonk. We'd tip the waitresses £5, and often had it refused as being excessive!

The people are lovely, and the Black Sea beaches are fantastic. We travelled with Balkan Holidays - can't go wrong. Hire a car, and explore the country. A lot of poverty about - but what a beautiful country.

I went to Bulgaria last year. The resorts are a bit tacky but the local people are very friendly and the resorts do tend to be quite clean.

The beaches are nice but in golden sands you had to get there early if you wanted to lie on the sand as every inch of the beach, bar a few metres at the shore line, were covered with sun loungers (I prefer lying on sand then plastic) At high season if you were not at the beach by 10am there was no spots to be had.

Food and drink was cheap, entertainment was funny, they have couples singing in a lot of bars and the eagles tend to be the songs of choice.

I enjoyed myself the most when I was out of the resorts, the coutryside is beautiful and they do a 'Jeep trek' which you get to travel around the countryside in ex soviet army jeeps.

In golden sands there was quite a few ladies of the night it's funny to watch them chase the single men down the road (they leave them alone if they are visibly with children/ partner)

It was a good holiday but I think if I visited again I would stay away from the holiday resorts and go for a winter break in the north of the country and visit Sofia and the surrounding area.

I really love Bulgaria. Its a beautiful country and has perfect beaches.
Two years ago I visited a friend's parents who own property in Bulgaria (http://www.bulgarianventure.com/), and I was simply amazed by the beauty of the country.

Has anyone been to Sofia? I want to visit the city next time.
