Folks,

This morning my 125 scooter refused to start.

Anybody any clues as to what could be wrong? The cold?

Thanks in advance

Could be a problem with your fuel line (I had something similar on a 125cc twist'n'go some months ago, turned out to be a defective seal on the carb = compression ratio gone and insufficient to achieve combustion).

Could also be the cold, mind.

Do you have any kind of heating on your carb(s) (i.e. has engine been 'all-seasoned' for our 'Northern' latitudes)?

Again, I didn't have any on mine (Benelli 125cc, standard Yamaha engine, direct import from Italy) and it kept cutting out at idle through icing of the carbs.

Rather than just wearing down the battery when its clearly struggleing could you not try kick starting it? I always kick start mine in a morning just to keep the kick start in regular use and then electric start the rest of the day.

Would if I could but it doesn't have kick-start.

Folks,

This morning my Aprilia 08 125 scooter refused to start. It started fine on Sunday morning and Saturday night's frost was much worse than last nights so I'm not convinced it was because of the cold. Only had a service less than two weeks ago, so all should be okay there. After about 8/9 starting attempts the battery died (currently recharging). I gave the spark plug a drying off (a wee bit wet). Will try again tomorrow morning when the battery is changed and then ring my breakdown recovery assistance for a home start.

Anybody any clues as to what could be wrong? The cold?

Labour of love this thing.

Thanks in advance
put some petrol in your hairdryer then :hihi::hihi::hihi:

Volic, ignore the trolling hairies in here, and look up 'carb heaters' (and ask the homestart guy while he's around).

Find a place where you are that sells/fits them (or fit'em yourself if you can).

You're going to find it makes a world of difference :)

If it doesn't, then your bike probably came off the same Italian assembly line that our old Fiat Brava came off way back when (1.6 SX, I'm talking 8+ years ago), whereby no amount of servicing/mechanics will find what's wrong with it, and the problem will likely last forever more.

In that case therefore, get rid :D

stick some petrol in head also try a new plug as even if theres a decent spark coming from it doesnt mean thats its any good mate also as loob says check the fuel line
