does anyone else think that first mainline are ripping us of with the price of there bus fares and cutting down services.

Yep they certainly are... They are ripping "Us" off, but not me personally... Thank god!

definate yes.. getting stupid now. I never have any change in my wallet for drink/food etc in town as im using it all to get there and back.

Well not me personally as I now cycle to work instead of trying to use the busses, but yes the fares are extortionate.

Walking and cycling are so much more convenient, and far cheaper. Don't let the bus company get all your money.

i dont think the prices they charge are extortionate, but for the service they are providing they are yes.

yep i cant believe how they up the prices twice a year it is now not worth getting a seven day saver the tram is better value lets do something about this company do u feel like u have been kicked in the teeth with last years strike nothing has been done to get the customers back

it costs (full fare) the same amount to get from the bottom of crookesmoore road to the top (not very far at all) as it does to get from the bottom of crookesmoore road to the other side of pitsmoor

Sheffield provides the worst bus service than any other First service i know of (Leeds & York i use regularly) and they charge more for the 'luxury' of travelling on a dirty, stinking bus that never gets cleaned and your greated by a miserable bus driver the majority of the time! And don't even get me started on the fact that the buses lower but the drivers refuse to do it!!

Yes, I agree with you. The bus fare are expensive compared to other bus companies. The buses I use to Rotherham could do with going to the scrap yard they are that old, brakes sqeaking and jumping, doors coming open when travelling along the long road from top of Whiston hill to Aughton. These buses are never on time at 5pm, usually 20mins late then they race to make up for lost time.
They should be giving a better service for the price they charge.
Take buses off the routes that have plenty running ie 41 and try to keep to the stated times given.

Yes they are..it wouldn't be so bad if the service was good. There are less buses. Every time i get on a bus from work it is jam packed full. I would say full to excess and dangerous. When the bus stops everyone piles into the front of the bus it stops so sharp.

Yes I think they are over-pricing their service. There are only two buses in an hour that go to Western Park i.e. Sheffield Uni from where I live and if I miss the first I'm pretty much buggered! It's really annoying - they should lower the prices because of it!! grrr

First have a monopoly on most routes, and a near-monopoly on others. If you hand a private company a monopoly (which is pretty much an inevitable consequence of deregulation), they will charge monopoly prices.

Case in point being the day rider ticket, which is a stonking £3 before 9 a.m., when presumably the only people who are using public transport are those who need to, to get to work.

The services I use aren't usually too bad, but yes they are certainly overpriced. Inflation is supposed to be 1 or 2 percent, but First have put their prices up by 20% or more in the last couple of years - beginning well before the recent increases in fuel costs.

Deffinately a rip off. The fares seem to rise at least once every year and often more. I'm sure they must outstrip inflation generally. What is more the service levels fall. For example, the off-peak 81 and 82 services have been merged so that there are just two buses to Stannington every hour and it goes all round the houses where before the 81 used to go stright up to the village.

the only reason people use first instead of yorkshire terrie is because yorkshire terrier buses don't run at night or at the weekend's.
