View Full Version : Website help please
NPressureCS 30-11-2008, 21:01 Can anyone advise me the best way to move my website further up Google without paying for adwords.
I am pretty good with the free listings and get a really good web coverage through them. If someone types in 'pressure cleaning sheffield' I appear 5 or 6 times on the first page but all through the listings and not my website.
What would I have to do or add to my site to sort this, as most of my business is in Sheffield would I have to put this word on my front page or somewhere else a lot more???
Any help would be really appreciated
Thankyou

Optimize 01-12-2008, 11:35 Hi NpressureCs,
Ill do you a FREE website analysis and send it across if you PM me your email address.
indizine 01-12-2008, 12:39 what you are talking about is appeariung in google's search engine page results for phrases your potential customers search on, to find companies like yours. Much like adwords.
However, to get youre site ranking for these phrases you need to do some link building (and assuming your website is optimised for the same keywords you will link build with).
Link building is time consuming and tedious work, and the links need to be relevant, no just any old links. If you know what you are doing and can do it yourself then it will cost just your own time, if not, you need to decide on a monthly budget. Expect to start seeing good results after 3 months steady link building if it's done right.
The other thing is not to get to Google page 1 for any old keywords - they need to be phrases that ultimately ensure people click through to your website because they found what they were searching for and thus, convert to being a potential customer, and then also your site needs to be good enough to convert when they land, so that they do become a customer and not just a window shopper.
Optimize 01-12-2008, 13:22 Hi there,
I have your 50 page report ready. As Indizine said you need to look at keywords that are getting traffic. If you want to see what I mean checkout the below link for other keyword ideas.
http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=pressure%20cleaning%2Cpressure%20cleaners%2Cpow er%20washing%2Cpressure%20washer%2Cpressure%20wash ers&geo=GB-ENG&cmpt=q
indizine 01-12-2008, 17:38 ps I was also thinking, that if you dont want to pay for Adwords, im guessing you might not also want to pay for search engine optimisation (such as link building). Bets to specify a budget so you know what you can expect to get for that amount, or if you dont want to pay, you can find loads of free info on the internet that can help you to some extent, it really depends how much you want to get into it. It's not everyone's cuppa tea!
A quick observation, every 'title' (the bit that shows at the top of your screen, in the blue bar) on your site is the same for every page.
Google will read this and think every page is very similar - try changing each one of these titles for each page - make them relevant to the page content, but include your keywords and the word Sheffield.
Hypnolady 05-12-2008, 14:20 This is something I have been thinking about for my website as it has been up and running since July 07, has increased from about 250 visits to 400 per month in that time but doesn't seem to be working as far as turning browsers into clients.
I would appreciate some help. I am not technically minded and don't really have the time to learn what to do. I prefer to let the people who specialise do their job for me.
As far as budget is concerned I have no idea what it would cost so would be interested in finding out.
I think actually I need some help to grow my business but am not sure who to go to for advice.
Any ideas welcome
thanks

indizine 05-12-2008, 16:38 Hi Hypnolady,
If you have access to change the meta tags in your websitem or can ask your web designer to do it, I can give you some free advicde about what to add in there that will make the world of difference.
I can also do you some keyword research (again for free) on hypnotherapy and NLP so that you know you are using keywords in your meta tags that will increase your rankings and thus get more visitors to your site.
I like the website, it's very calm and soothing; i've seen some shocking ones for hypnotherapy I can tell you! Yours has the right design and just needs page optimisation to start with, and then some relevant link building.
PM me if you want a chat sometime. I promise no geek speak!
Accountant 07-12-2008, 20:21 Hi NPressureCS & Hypnolady,
Indizine & Optimize seem to have covered everything really. I'm not an expert like these to, but:
Basically each page of your site needs to have correct meta tags & the content on the pages need to be relevant to the meta tags as well.
Getting links from other sites to your own sites is very importnant but only if the links are coming from relevant sites.
Optimisation isn't something that you have to pay someone to do if you have the time to sit down & learn it yourself.
Hypnolady, your site has way too many key phrases on the home page & they are all to generic. You need to try & target 3-4 key phrases per page & make sure you mention the geographical area you are trying to cover, i.e. Sheffield.
NPressureCS, you need to sort your key phrases out, so that they are mentioned as phrases &, i.e. patio cleaning in sheffield, driveway cleaning in sheffield, etc.
Some people say you shouldn't repeat words, so if you were targeting the words 'patio cleaning in sheffield & driveway cleaning in sheffield', your key phrases could be as follows:
patio, driveway, cleaning, sheffield
But I still have the key words as full phrases & it seems to work ok for me.
Good luck.

Thanks for your advice. I know it needs some work to improve and I agree it is a bit too generic. It's something I will be working on.
