View Full Version : Rain Rescue Gathering
spottie2101 30-11-2008, 21:03 We are going to have a bit of a get together for everyone to meet up to coinside with the raffle being drawn.
The get together will start about 7.30ish on Friday 19th December at The Rising Sun on Fulwood Road, Nether Green.
Its gonna be very informal and ust a nice oppertunity for people to have a drink and a chat.
Hope to see you there
are we going to be in the back room spottie?
We shall be there - would you like me to bring some home made yummies available for a small donation? Would we be allowed?
spottie2101 01-12-2008, 13:02 Strix we can make it that we all meet in the back room due to it not being an event where tickets (apart from raffle tickets) have been sold we are keeping it very low key.
I know the Raffle will be drawn in the main room
Adz that is a lovely offer but will have to speak to the Rising Sun to check if it would be allowed.
Im looking forward to meeting some of you on the night will be good to put faces to names.
I know this sounds daft, but you know what it's like these days...
... you do have a food hygiene certificate don't you Adz?
(yes, I know, it bugs hell out of me too  )
Rainrescue 01-12-2008, 17:21 Do we need a certificate if the pies are given away - and then anyone can make a donation into the tin?
Would LOVE to see everyone there - like Spottie says - its just a nice get together, maybe we can start to think of new fund raising ideas for 2009?
Thanks Spottie for all your hard work getting in these raffle prizes and anyone who wants to take some of them to work and sell them? Please email spottie and she will cyber send you some on.
Just as an idea of where this money goes - we took 3 dogs out of the pound the week before last - all of them have been really poorly with runs. Had to have 2 vet visits, been on special diet (cooked chicken and rice ) and anti-biotics. The vet bill was a 'reduced' £140 - thats just the 1 small bill - we have loads more to keep paying. But just take a look at the pics of Harry, Reggie and Betty - none of them deserve to be abandoned and so we do what we can.
Happy fundraising!!!!!
I do have food hygiene Strix hehe and am a very clean cook, i just meant like Rain said have a tin and people pop a little bit in.
Spottie you have done so well, have still not sent my cheque am sorry my brain is useless!!
I am planning on a sponsored walk for Feb and a boozy fair and music night in March which we are already planning so watch this space, will fill you in more when we all get together.
Hopefully I'll be able to pop in and at least bung a donation in the fundraising tin Rainrescue.
I don't buy raffle tickets as I don't gamble (plus if I wish to make a donation I don't need bribing with the possibility of a prize for doing it) but that doesn't stop me contributing when I'm able ;)
*Peaches* 02-12-2008, 08:30 Hopefully I'll be putting in an appearance
We would love to come but are away for christmas.Hopefully there will be many fundraising events in the New Year too.
Hi waddy there will be fundraising in the new year including a sponsored dog walk in feb and a evening do in March - I shall keep you posted, thanks for thinking of Rain
Yes keep me posted thanks for that.:)
geerarffe 03-12-2008, 19:35 I'm not going to be able to make the get together as I'm working. :(
Will definitely get my butt on the sponsored dog walk though.

Hi geerarffe don't suppose you fancy being a helper on the walk do you :D,? There was only me last time and my OH in the car meeting us half way and it would have been better to have someone else there in case something happened of just to be a guide, i would really appreciate it but understand if you don't want to.
Rainrescue 03-12-2008, 23:05 I will be there this time too Adz - and hopefully with a bit of advanced notice - some more people will do. You picking a date yet?
I shall look at my Rota today and see what weekends i have off in feb and we can set a date. Rain do you have a preference?

Great Adz, yes I can bring treats along! Thats no problem. We really enjoyed last years sponsored walk. Evie is much more out of her shell now - she even barks sometimes!

Thanks Adz, oh yes she will be spoilt, but then again whats new, she gets spoilt all year round! Absolutely love having her, she is a pleasure to own.
Looking forward to the walk, last years was great.
I want to be able to bring Molly for some snuggles and fuss, but I know I can't :( She just wouldn't cope with other dogs being there in an enclosed space. The same applies to the sponsored dog walk unfortunately :( :(
Medusa this year i plan to ask all the off leaders to go off in front leaving the onleaders behind to walk at their own pace would this help? we are going to Rother again and it is a pretty big space. I have to say all the dogs behaved impeacably on the last walk with no nastiness and everyone was very responsible.
Is anyone taking their dogs to the pub then?
I don't think I'd ever be forgiven for going to Sooz's pub without one of her favourite customers
spottie2101 04-12-2008, 14:52 Can i just remind people it will be the Friday night before xmas and will be very busy, so may not be ideal for dogs to come along. I would hate for them to get trampled on etc

I would love to bring his royal hairyness but you are right spottie it will be busy
Rainrescue 04-12-2008, 21:23 Yeah spottie - just seen that its on MAD FRIDAY - hadn't realised it was that close - and yes - no doubt it will be a tad hectic that night. But we can still have a decent get together.
And no - won't be bringing mine - most are too grumpy and the only friendly one - slobbers to much for xmas attire.
Adz - Early or late Feb best for me - I have a busy week around 10th - 15th
thanks - sounds fun
