where was he sighted today Gemima?
have cross posted to gap. annax
He was sighted at The Derwent Hotel, Whatstandwell Bridge, he is covering a lot of mileage despite his weak state. The fact that he is weak means there is a better chance of catching him. The latest is that he is drawn to dogs barking, which seems to make him come from his cover, he is unlikely to come out if he hears people talking. He is very dog friendly despite being jumped on by a lab a few weeks ago and has been known to play with other dogs he meets.
There is a lady who is walking that way everyday with her two lurchers, she seems to be the best hope at the moment, but because it is such a wide area the more people who can go the better.
I really feel for this poor dog as he had such a terrible home before the RSPCA took him, the bloke who had him previously kept him in a shed and only let him out for a good beating and to torture, hence his fear. There is a fella co-ordinating from the RSPCA and he is camping out in the woods and says he wont give up. My friend in Ashbourne is also co-ordinating so if anyone wants to join please PM me.
Just heard that the sighting at Derwent Hotel was a false alarm.:(
aww poor dog , I hope he is found soon so at least he is safe and can be fed.
Does the lady with Lurchers feed him ?
Everyone leaves food Teeny, but it is such a massive area, with lots of wildlife no one can be sure he is getting any and the state of him shows he is probably not getting it.
Just heard that the sighting at Derwent Hotel was a false alarm.:(where does that put his last sighting then?
Just to update the last sighting was yesterday. Myself and a friend have been going to Shining Cliff Woods near Ambergate every day as that's where last week's sighting was. Somebody saw him clearly yesterday lunchtime so we're going back this afternoon to try again. People are dropping food in strategic places and it is being taken and a guy who works in the woods thinks he might know where the dog is bedding down.
We're now hoping that with food drops and trying to keep the area calm and quiet we can make him feel safe so he sticks around until we can get a professional trapper there. One false move and he'll be off but yesterdays news was promising so fingers crossed for Inra.
