What on earth is this city coming to?

I was on my way home for my tea last night when I got stuck behind a city council taxi doing 15 mph on a 30mph road, waving all over the road (including the opposite side) and not taking any care to use his indicators. After about 1/2 mile of this, I beeped ad flashed my headlights. He looked startled, and threw what can only be described as a spliff out of his window.

When we approached the give way, he was going left (at least that's where he positioned himself on the road anyway) and I was turning right. An asian bloke of I would say no older than 17 years old, got out of the taxi and started to approach my car shouting things like "Whatcha' beeping at man?" and "You got a f*cking problem or summat man?" to which I made a hasty getaway. His eyes were bloodshot red and he couldn't walk in a straight line.

I wished I'd have made a note of his plate number, cos that guy really needs reporting.

The city council is not a taxi company and does not operate any taxis. Taxis are driven by individuals licensed by the city council, and they either work for themselves or for private taxi companies.

If the vehicle you saw was a licensed taxi the drivers licensed can be suspended. Unfortunately, you didn't see the plate, and believing the council to be a monopoly taxi company you didn't look for the company name on the side - which is required to be displayed.

Even so, you should report this to Taxi Licensing at the Town Hall. If this driver has been reported by anybody else, or he has been caught on CCTV it will supporting evidence to suspend his license.

Ah, I see. I thought the black cabs were council run.

we have been picked up twice by the same bloke who was obviously drunk, my friend reported him after the 2nd time but no-one has got back to us yet!!!
