I have an interview for Admin Support at the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills Moorfoot Sheffield. I'm nearly 40 but this is an apprenticeship role that has great training opportunities. I really want this job, any tips for what to expect at the interview or from anyone who works there would be very much appreciated.

Robson12,

this will cost you if you get this job. The interview, is based on competencies and require you to give details of how you did various jobs and achieved the outcome that they require. You should have been sent the details of the job, to which you sent a CV and application form.

They will be looking at your application form and expecting you to provide enhancements to this application by providing more detail and more indepth examples of how you would be and have achieved the goals on your application form.

The way to handle it is thus, get a copy of your application form, look at the comptencies and think of other jobs that YOU did to achieve these comptencies. Write down other examples and here's the rub, you can take these in the interview with you!

I would suggest if you've got through to interview, you are nearly there as they only invite 3-5 people for each job! You also need examples to show how you achieved the comptency yourself without help and what you used and the positive outcome of you doing this.

I hope this helps
