View Full Version : Ginger cat found - Aston Area - shivering and cold
Rainrescue 29-11-2008, 19:01 Whilst rehoming Jessica today I got a call to see if we could help a ginger cat that had been sleeping rough on this lady's front door step for over 2 weeks.
The lady can't take it in - cos she had lots of cats of her own - and was desperately trying to find him a space. I called round to have a look at him, seeing as I was over that way, and he was shivering from head to tip of his tail. I think he's about 8 - 10 yrs old - very very friendly and obviously was a once loved cat. He has a mark where he has had a collar on - but its now not got a collar on. I couldn't find a chip either.
I couldn't leave him there - so we are paying for him to be in boarding in a cattery because nobody could take him in and he's in their isolation.
If anyone knows of someone who has lost a lovely ginger cat - probably a tom but i didn't go looking. Certain castrated if he is a tom cos no smell. Please point them in my direction. Or if someone could foster him for a week or so to see if an owner turns up (highly unlikely as hes been there 2 wks already. Then we could try to find a nice warm sedate home for him. I bet he wouldn't even mind being a house cat all the time now.
Pics will be going on our web site soon - we've called him Bagpuss (very original I know)
Bless you rain... its freezing out there. I wish I could help but I dont have the room or an understanding husband.:(
I will do my best to ask around though. At least he is safe, warm and fed tonight.
edited to add.. have you rang TAS just in case they have had a "missing" call.?
bless him , its a horrid night y 2 and dog are all cuddled up in front of the fire and Tawnt kitten is on our bed fast asleep with Badger. I hope his owner finds him . Has he been scanned to see if he is chipped?
DiamondGirl 29-11-2008, 19:50 I can foster if u want?
Rainrescue 29-11-2008, 20:43 Thanks so much - once again Diamond - for offering to help the boy.
However, I know you are so full already with the kittens from C.A.T.S.
Lets see if someone else can help an older more sedate cat and if not, I would gladly take up your offer and help with his food and things
Thanks Gemima - I thought the same tonight - I couldn't bare to think of him sleeping rough in this cold - his whole body was trembling with the cold - I can't sleep at nights thinking of things dumped and rough - and even people having to sleep without heating or clothing to keep them warm.
This weather certainly isn't kind to those less fortunate.
Has he been scanned to see if he is chipped ? If you ever need an animal scanning i am buying a scanner for microchips next week so it wil b available then.
MARY POPPINS 29-11-2008, 22:00 Just a thought but last year we had a ginger cat suddenly appear, and he was realy friendly, I couldn't keep him but alady down the road who already has cats took him in, she had him neutered and a problem with his leg sorted out and realy loved him, then one day he just disappeared as quickly as he came, so we thought he must have gone off to find another home, this was Aughton which is quite near, and he was very affectionate as well, if it was him I'm sure she would have him back, Gemima came and scanned him so probably she will remember him, if you show me a picture I will remember him
Rainrescue 29-11-2008, 22:06 It could be him then Mary - he is gorgoues and I picked him up actually as you head down to Swallownest - turn left before the garage - he was on that estate.
The lady said he had been sat outside this lady's door for the 2 weeks - almost as though it was his house - and he couldn't understand why he couldn't go in through the door. It was a house on the corner and had a garage.
Is he microchipped did you say?
I can email you a picture but I can't work out how to put it in photobucket - cos i a bit daft on that side of stuff.
I so hope someone wants him back that he knows - he's not doddery - but certainly is stressed and lost away from home.
Teeny - i have a dog microchip scanner that I used for him and didn't pick anything up - does that pick up cat chips too?

Rainrescue 29-11-2008, 23:45 As you come past the Yellow Lion, past the right junction going back to the Robin Hood - keep going towards Swallownest.
It was the left turn - just before the petrol station on the left hand side.

yes it will pick up both cat and dog chips I am pleased to say
I am getting it as I have chipped all my rabbits recently and want to make sure they are where they are meant to be. I have just done a course to learn how to microchip.
I hope he finds his way back home , do you know yet if its the one the lady lost?

Ooooh I remember Mary Poppins. I hope it is him. I dont think I would recognise him now though it seems so long ago now. :(

One more makes no difference lol
Rainrescue 04-12-2008, 21:29 A friend of Gemima took him on trial yesterday and is checking him out for a few days - even if she can manage to foster for a while - so he isn't on his own in the cattery for long.
However, we don't know if he would prefer to be an only cat - and indoor cat - and a cuddle cat.
Does anyone know anyone who wants a nice sedate knee blanket?
aww he sounds lovely, My grandma in the Isle of wight has a knee warmer called tTom he was a stray, who walked into the family home and stayed , we did try to find the owners but as our family home has no neighbouring properties it was hard to know where to begin.
Rainrescue 08-12-2008, 22:24 Hia
would you edit your phone number out - just cos best not put phone numbers on
u want me to call u now?
MARY POPPINS 09-12-2008, 21:05 just wondered if this was miracles cat do hope so
I hope the cat is now at home reunited with his owner.
Rainrescue 09-12-2008, 21:42 Yes it certainly is - Miracles was going to collect Oscar from our fosterer today and as yet I haven't heard anything to the contrary.
How FANTASTIC is that - Oscar has been missing since 20th November and they have been so upset - and looking all over for him. Whilst doing a search for 'lost ginger cat'; the Sheffield Forum came up - with our thread. The rest is history so they say.
He has wandered about 2.5 miles away - and so was obviously lost and could't get home. Her son was also really upset - so hopefully - all happy tonight. I will update when we hear more but how nice is that?
aww thats so good to hear , i like stories with happy endings.
SpeedDemon 09-12-2008, 22:03 awwwwww thats fantastic! It's great when the forum is responsible for re-uniting lost pets with their owners. Glad to hear you have your baby back miracle :)
Rainrescue 09-12-2008, 22:41 Yes - and it certainly is down to the forum - and our website and the fact that we have a bit of money in the bank to be able to have put him into boarding until someone offered to foster for him.
Its just so cold -
Could someone change the title for me please to NOW FOUND HIS FAMILY
MARY POPPINS 10-12-2008, 12:02 Thats brilliant news and what alovely present for the little cat and his owner
