Hi all,

been asked by my mum to try and find a puppy for her partner. Yes I realise people are reluctant at this time of year however him being 50 years old I really don't think it would be an issue.

After a small one somthing like a king charles. The only trouble is she's wanting it to be a surprise and as she's just been made redundant is low on funds. Does anyone know of anyone needing to rehome a puppy or a rescue centre that doesn't charge the earth for one?

Cheers all.

rescue centres usually charge in the region of £100 to adopt, to cover just some of the cost incurred in kenneling and vet bills

you may be best off approaching the breed rescue, and see if there are any slightly older dogs available for a new home at a lesser cost

an older dog is often much easier to settle into a new home than a pup

Happy dog hunting :)

There are puppies at the pound, just be careful regarding how healthy they are, be prepared to visit the vet asap once you've taken them home.

Id really advise against buying anyone a puppy as a suprise, its a flipping long commitment for someone who may not be all that keen on 15+ years 'suprise'.
why doesnt she type up a nice message like 'for your christmas present in january we will trawl the shelters and i will but you the perfect 4 legged friend, IOU 1 dog' ..... and put it in his card.

A lot of places will not rehome pets this near to christmas, and after christmas (unfortunatly) there will be a huge choice of unwanted 'suprises' just waiting for the perfect home ..... and he'll be able to choose the little fluffy himself?

she could even buy him a lead, collar and squeeky toy to open on christmas morning :)
