View Full Version : Attendance at Hillsborough Saturday 29/11
canadablade 28-11-2008, 22:00 How many do you think will turn up with it being quid a kid day?
Last match of last season against Norwich you had 36,000 but the last home match against Coventy you had 16,000.
What kind of attendance will there be tomorrow ?

im expecting about 22,000 no more
canadablade 28-11-2008, 22:03 im expecting about 22,000 no more
I was thinking more like 25,000.
Would you consider 22,000 a success ?
I was thinking more like 25,000.
Would you consider 22,000 a success ?
not really but you have to take into account that for every kid for a quid ,you need an adult paying full whack taking his son or daughter -and thats the problem ,its way too expensive
CorkerSWFC 28-11-2008, 22:47 Looking at the tempratures tommorow i doubt many people will wanna sit in any football ground lol
Michael_W 28-11-2008, 22:55 Wednesday will do well to get 20,000 plus tomorrow, it may be kids for a quid but you need paying adults to want to turn up and bring 'em. The club is at last trying to lure back some of the missing fans though, so it's a step in the right direction. With regards to the sty tomorrow, I think it will be empty the little red and white bacon rashers are at Ipswich
CorkerSWFC 28-11-2008, 23:07 I had to laugh today when we were passing the lane, that Hotel or whatever it is at the side of the lane looks so out of place its untrue.
A sign of the time's in Sheffield these days with some of the pointless buildings being erected.
Makes me laugh how Wendy fans live in the past. Michael W just needs a reference to boxing day to complete his dross signature.
OLDOWL 1952 29-11-2008, 07:41 I guess about 18,500
mickdalewood 29-11-2008, 08:53 I was thinking more like 25,000.
Would you consider 22,000 a success ?
Can't see many more than 20,000 today and if we did get 22,000 then that would be good

pointless buidings :loopy:, sheffield suffers from a large shortage of hotel beds . try getting one in midweek . good bussiness I think . why do you think so many hotels have been built lately ?.
on topic , 24000 , just a wild guess .
al_partridge 29-11-2008, 13:29 I can't see us getting much more than 18,000.
The "kids for a quid" never makes a massive difference to the gate - the way they've done it means that they still have to go with an adult paying full price, and it's not available on the day. The cheap tickets were only on sale until yesterday, which meant people would have to make their way to the ticket office in the week, which isn't easy for a lot of people who are working.
The only way to get the gates up consistently is to slash all ticket prices permanently, not just introduce occasional offers which still have strings attached.
canadablade 29-11-2008, 16:35 I can't see us getting much more than 18,000.
18,800 :o Up a couple of thousand on the Coventry match but still dissapointing I would think considering it turned out to be such a good 2nd half
NERVY-OWL 29-11-2008, 16:46 its dissapointing but i'll be more bothered if the £10 for adults games arent near the 25k or more mark. kids for a quid arent really big pullers seems the adult is still paying full amount

Considering the weather, that's pretty darn good.

Has anyone else noticed now that the smellies are struggling they are obsessed with the poor crowds down hillsborough?:hihi:
NERVY-OWL 29-11-2008, 16:59 i wouldnt call 4th or wherever they are struggling. they've been obsessed with our attendences all season anyway, whatever keeps them happy, doesnt bother me
i expected a few more than 18,883 today with it being ankle biters for a quid. i was way off yesterday with my prediction of 22,000. its worrying to say the least that the crowd today was so low, even though its very cold and near christmas. i think without the offers today it may have been around 15,000
i wouldnt call 4th or wherever they are struggling. they've been obsessed with our attendences all season anyway
Not all of us; just the Owls fans who are more interested in your team than ours but still call themselves Unitedites for who-knows-what reason. CanadaOwl is a long-standing one such.
NERVY-OWL 29-11-2008, 17:03 i would say it would of been just over 16k without. as i said before, i will be more bothered if we dont get a masive improvement with the adult tickets for £10 offer
NERVY-OWL 29-11-2008, 17:06 yes heyesey, its not all utd fans just like its not all owls fans bothered about utd. i dont care anyway, not going to get into an argument about it, whatever makes them happy:)

SpeedwayDan 30-11-2008, 13:04 The crowd would have been the same as last week without this incentive, so imo it worked, ok we would have liked a few more there, but an extra couple of thousand was ok considering the freezing weather.
I was surprised Norwich brought so few, Coventry brought more last week.

There are lots of teams suffering with dwindling attendances, southamptons are on last seasons average down over 5.000 fans
Thingything 30-11-2008, 15:02 Suprise Suprise, another thread about us from CanadaOwl
Personally i couldn't give a toss about how many of us turn up,we won 3-2 and it's results that count not attendances

3 points of the play-offs, and its December tommorow, id say that were still in a position to call our season a succsess :)

canadablade 30-11-2008, 16:54 Dont flatter yourselves my little pink chums.
Not much to go on about at BDTBL, great crowds, 5th in the league etc but the goings on at the Sty with this takeover malarky etc are laughable :hihi::hihi:
See you lot still think you are a big, massive club with a huge following etc and thats why its so funny seeing you trying to defend crowds of 16-18,000 because its cold and wet :hihi::hihi::hihi:
And lets not talk about Blades obssesed with the pigs because you lot never shut up about Tevez and Morgan :gag:

Enjoying your moment with the crowds issue eh ! As for defending our poor crowds what reasons did you lot have a few years ago ?
Massive Wednesday  How many of 'us lot' claim that then ? I thought it was your lot who were having delusions of grandeur !
As regards the obsession, well you have been sussed old lad, but in your defence you are no worse than several other porky posters on here

None of us on here claim we are a massive club.
None of us on here believed the takeover would happen.
As for defending your crowds because of the wet and cold weather and the cost, I guess they must have moved BDTBL to Florida did they or is it always warm and tropical in Sheffield 2

See them come crawling out the woodwork, for a sniff of a Man Utd cup ticket.

Jeez CB, how many more threads about Wednesday you gonna start?.. I notice it's always when the Mighty Blue and White Wizards win that you try to go off topic about attendances etc..
Shame your own load of tripe down at bumhole lane don't hold enough interest for you.
UP THE OWLS! :headbang:

Thats pretty disapointing isn't it but the £10 deal should bring some people in.
i read at the weekend that over 6000 season ticket holders didn't bother to turn up for the 16k match!

It was on the owls pages in the green un saying that the club issued a statement saying that? I found it very strange that a club would issue a statement over the lack of people at the game?

This explains it, and your previous question.

The light was all produced by Cheeky Bandit burning up on re-entering earth, having recently gone to watch Charlton "two leagues higher than Sheffield Wednesday" Athletic play away.

He really should re-enter the Sheffield forum and take back some of the verbal diarreah he was dishing out.
One thing about Blades and owls on here we give and take as good as we get he gives and dissapears.
Seriously hoping Charlton go down this season :hihi::hihi:

I've made a number of attempts to engage him (Cheeky Bandit) in friendly dialogue, including even offering genuine sympathy after they were beaten by their most bitter rivals.
I still have a lot of time for Charlton and what they have achived in the last eighteen years. I know quite a few decent Charlton fans, and wish them well as long as it is not at our expense. I recognise how their kids benefit from Charlton's work in the community.
Also, I along with supporters of many other clubs throughout the land, gave them support during their "Back to the VAlley" campaign.
But his ( Cheeky Bandit's) attitude on here has won neither him or his club any friends.
Forget about him CB. Don't tar them all with the same brush.
Robbie Loving 03-12-2008, 17:22 I did read on another site that it was actually 3000.
Apparently this was in the Star, however I don't envisage it being this high.
CorkerSWFC 03-12-2008, 19:36 Im quite intruiged to see how many we get against Qpr me :)
NERVY-OWL 03-12-2008, 21:20 is the qpr game a tenner corkers?
CorkerSWFC 03-12-2008, 21:24 Yes Im 95% sure this is this first of them next Tuesday night, i maybe wrong but i seem to remember QPR being one of them, the website doesn't say nowt anyway.
NERVY-OWL 03-12-2008, 22:03 should be interesting then, shame its not a saturday game but it will give an indication of what we're likely to get against charlton. will be very dissapointed if its less than 22k at least
