View Full Version : Do Men Fret About Going Bald?
I have just watched what I thought was a hilarious 'infommercial' for a hair clinic. Lots of middle aged ex sports stars showing pictures of their receeding hairlines before they had a 'thatch re-attached'.
Thing is they looked natural before and now they look like bad attempts at 80's German rock stars. *
Made me giggle!
Then I wondered... Is it something people really vex about? Going Bald?
Don't women find bald men sexy??
Do tell...
*(not that there's anything wrong with German rock stars).

i dont mind men when they r goin bald, bless them! it is a really bad time for them, i know because my boyfriend is goin bald at a young age and he hates it. i still find him sexy though! i like his little fluff nut!
spyro2000 31-05-2005, 23:54 going bald doesnt bother me actually. I always have my hair short anyway, sort of skinheadish. If anything i welcome going bald, will save money on barbers.

Weird how Robin Gee looked happy and was smiling with thin hair, and yet looked quite unhappy and miserable with his transplant (or is it a wig?).
Bald men are sexy!

Gingerbarf 01-06-2005, 00:02 i as you may guess by the nickname am ginger, and there aren't many bold ones about so i guess it wont be a prob for me
but after all the stick i've took about being ginger you'd think we'd want to be bald A.S.A.P. lol
redrobbo 01-06-2005, 00:09 Short hair and zero crops are all the rage now. Even my partner has gone in for the ultra-skinhead zero crop look.
Over the decades, I've gone from an afro perm to a No.1 crop. But, despite my age, when long hair comes back in again - it will grow back if required!
But lots of guys I know worry that they are going bald, and hate it being pointed out to them. I can't help but smile when blokes comb lengths of hair growing on one side of their scalp across their bald pate - just to make it look like they have a full head of hair. Far better to cut what remains short, like Iain Duncan Smith does.
That's just made me think - when was the last time a bald bloke ever got elected as Prime Minister? Neil Kinnock didn't make it to No.10, neither did William Hague, and Iain Duncan Smith was passed over by the Tories before he even got to fight a general election! And they were all bald!

Not to mention he also appears to have modelled his makeup on Aunt Sally in the second pic! :o
I Can't Wait To Go Bald!
Now that's something you hear from a bloke every day :suspect:
It's true though! I've had the thickest mop of hair all my life and i hated it. My parents were tight t***s and wouldn't let me have it cut all that often. I loved it once i started making my own money so i could go and have the lot cut off!
Now it's #4 on top and #1 on the sides all the way baby!!!!!!!!!

It's not always the best look (http://www-users.york.ac.uk/~jsu100/hair/josh_hair101.jpg) on a man!
I would be quite happy if I went bald, it would save me the effort of shaving my head.
JonJParr 01-06-2005, 09:47 Ordinarily I don't worry about hair loss. However, I do have two small cul-de-sacs on my hairline that seem to be expanding slowly. This is quite worrying.

My dad had something similar, he ended-up with a circle of hair left at the front, it looked quite comical but his wife liked it.
Speedy_Jim 01-06-2005, 10:33 I started going bald 10 years ago, and finally bit the bullet and shaved the whole lot off 6 or 7 years ago. At the time, it made me look mean and fearsome (at least I thought...). Now, of course, buzz-cuts are all the rage so I just look like everyone else with a grade zero.
It never bothered me in the slightest. I'd probably look better with a head of good hair, but there are more important things to worry about. Funny, cos my twin brother has only recently started to go bald and he's finding it quite upsetting.
Maybe the age at which you go bald is a big factor - mid-twenties isn't so bad, but if it happens as you hit your 30s (like it has for my brother), it's probably harder - more of an aging thing
As for bald men being sexy... heh, think that's a myth started and perpetuated by bald men who know full well that they look like old duffers :)
Plain Talker 01-06-2005, 10:43 Baldness can, definitely be sexy. (thinks... Sean connery.... le sigh!)
Courting with a bloke who is thinning/ balding just doesn't faze me. It's the bloke I'd be going out with, not his hairline! (and in any case, at my age, there are a lot of bald/ thinning men around!)
I hate, with a total vengeance, the "arthur-shreddiehead" combover look, i think it looks dreadful. It's like... shouting,
"oi! look! over here! i'm bald!"
it's the same with the blokes who wear toupees.... I just want to say "WHY!!??!!" Just be yourself!
It doesn't matter HOW you wear your hair, whether you have a full head of hair, whether you are thinning, have dreadlocks, violently purple hair, or are totally bald: what is important, is, to have cleanliness . It's much more appealing.
there is an old joke about balding....
"If you are thinning at the front", they say, "you are a good thinker"
"if you are thinning at the crown, you are a good lover."
;) if you are thinning all over, you *think* you are a good lover! lol ;)
