m moving to sheffield soon also in the woodseats area ( well i think it is) im just off chesterfield road near a closed down petrol station , are there any decent pubs in (lazy woman steps ) walking distance , iv only visited the property once and there didnt seen to be a local shop or pub near unless you have a car of course , is this right does anyone know or am i going in the wrong direction
You are about 1 mile out of Woodseats so you may feel there is nothing there but Woodseats is a thriving area and also is Heeley about 1/2 a mile in the other direction!!
I am sure you will settle there...Readmans not far away too for the shopping!!

it's sort of upper Meersbrook, lower Norton Lees if it's the old petrol station near Derbyshire lane?
The nearest shopping centre is at Woodseats but there are a few corner shops in the vicinity. The nearest pub is the Cross Scythes at the top of Derbyshire Lane, or the Crown, Chesterfield Rd, Mr Q's (Red Lion), the White Lion and the Bridge Inn, and a bar called Easy Street all on London Road - and all a bus ride away really ... the Sheaf View just up from the Bridge is a real ale pub and worth a visit ...
Welcome to Sheffield anyway ... and several forummers live in the area too ... :D

Yeah, welcome to the area Jojo (don't get back)... you'll love it. I posted something in reply to your question on the other thread ('what is S8 like?'), before I saw you'd started a separate thread... dunno whether I'm allowed to post it again here - maybe the threads should be merged?
Try the Sheaf View Pub left under under the bridge in Heeley. Top pub and no TV or juke music real beer and crack.
That's after you've bought your new suite in Ponsfords of course !!

The Sheaf Inn is very popular. And it's only a short walking distance from where you are going to be living. Woodseats shopping centre is good. I saw a thread about Woodseats shops the other night - do a search for details.
Don't forget to visit Meersbrook Park (and the walled garden), and Heeley City Farm (plants for sale - should you have a garden).
