I just got Virgin TV for freeview as I live in Hillsborough and cannot get most freeview channels at all (!)

It said in the Virgin TV instructions that ‘you can connect your set top box to your DVR by scart cable – linked to back of set top box to back of DVR’ – which I’ve done. However, how do I record TV programmes on to my DVR? And how would I playback recorded programmes without having mess about switching scart cables from the V box to the DVR?
