View Full Version : Alternative to Monserrat Menswear
Berberis 31-05-2005, 13:35 Does anyone have any advice on an alternative to Monserrat in Meadowhall?
I have purchased a number of items from their and more often than not, the said items are faulty when you get them home.
I have been refused refunds for blatantly faulty t-shirts and the manager has even tried to fob me off with vouchers instead of refunds!
I dare say many people have not had the same problems but that is not my experience.
Are their any shops in Sheffield that caters for the same fashions and tastes? The only alternative I can find is an online site called http://www.asos.com/, but I prefer to be able to see and try on the clothes before purchase.
Yes, this is a much better alternative to Montserrat at Meadowhall:-

Serapis, Sorry, I had no idea it was a clothes shop. I have looked at the web site you use as an example of the "fashion" and I can now suggest http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/backstage/albert_sq/map_locations/market/market_3.shtml

Have you tried Division Street ?
Most of the shops on Division Street sell decent stuff thats a bit different to the sheep suits every shop in Meadowhall sells.
Sa-Kis is very good and Brother 2 Brother.
Cecil Gee in Meadowhall always has a few nice things in and so does House Of Fraser.
And there is always E-bay, for the odd bargain.

I must admit I'm not at all surprised at your trouble in obtaining a refund.
I was about to go to court with that company before they went into administration. It was regarding a dispute with some faulty goods that I had purchased.
Berberis 01-06-2005, 08:36 Thanks nick2, I will take a look in those shops when I get a chance.
It's expensive, but Cecil Gee have a lot of good clothes and I buy a lot from there.
Baron Jon has some good gear, and suprisingly, so does the mens section in House Of Fraser!! (I buy all my Ralph Lauren polo-shirts from there).
Steer clear of River Island and Envy :|

Cheers GazB
Dont worry, I ALWAYS steer clear of River Island and Envy, dont they just sell burbury :D
Actually, I wont buy much stuff from the likes of Next too. There t-shirts are cheap and nasty. Their jeans are OK though.
For jeans, make sure you visit the G-Star shop opposite the forum, they have great jeans and the staff are realy nice and helpfull.
Brother to brother and Sakis are the only decent clothes shops in Sheffield for men
Outside of that goto Manchester or London for something decent

if you buy a load of ralph lauren polo's (i wear them for work) and ever go near york, the ralph lauren outlet shop has them for £39.99 each (£29.99 each if you buy 2). theres also a 10% off voucher for the outlet. i got 3 last time for £81.
of course a lot of people will think its still a rip off :hihi:
