I wonder what happened to that "locking" letter box that was mentioned in the Star some time ago - invented by a local man in Meersbrook ... you could set a timer to open it when the postman was due and it was locked at other times. I seem to think he invented it in response to a similar occurance locally .. when something was pushed through and set the house on fire. Would certainly be something I'd consider installing - maybe stop all the leaflets for pizza deliveries too :D. Only if the postman was regular - and when does that ever happen? rubydazzler 31-05-2005, 06:10 hmmm! good point Hook ... but at least you could "lock" it at night when you go to bed ... no-one delivers mail between 9pm and 7 am do they? That's true enough. Of course maybe we should just all opt for those "american style" mail boxes in our front gardens, or the type that you hang on your wall (you know a box with a slit in, and lockable). That'd be fairly safe too I'd should imagine, unless you live in a wooden house like I do :suspect: |
