I have recently started the Gold Cardigan by Sian Brown from the December 2008 Knitting magazine. There is either a misprint or I'm being very stupid. I can't find any errata on the website and need some help.
I'm knitting size 16/18. The pattern is as follows:

Left Front
Cast on 73 sts
Rows 1-8 moss stitch
Row 9 K to last 6 sts, moss st 6
Row 10 moss st 6, p to end
Work a further 8 rows
Dec Row K9 skpo (or sl1, k1, psso), k to last 6 st, moss st 6
work 7 rows
Rep the last 8 rows 4 more times then the dec row again (67 sts)
Cont straight until work measures 27cm ending with WS row

So far this is fine it's when I come to shape the armhole that the math goes awry.

Cast off 7 sts work to end, 57 sts remain (!)

Am I being really thick? Please someone help before my head explodes.

Well to me it looks like you should end up with 60 stitches - Ill have a look elsewhere.

It's correct for the smallest size. Misprints confuse me and I end up counting the difference in stitches between sizes and trying to work out how many stitches I should have, maybe, then my head explodes!

No still cant find anything :( Have you tried contacting them directly?

Did you ever get this sorted? I can't find an errata page online for Knitting magazine, which is quite unusual, and unless I'm missing something there's certainly an error in the section of pattern you quoted (agree with Lisa; it should be 60 stitches remaining).

I haven't found any errata either. I think I'm just going to follow the shaping instructions and just ignore the number of stitches I'm meant to have. The shaping should be identical to the back and the pattern seems to work, it's just the maths. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well I have ignored the number of stitches I'm meant to have and completed the pattern following the instructions given. The fronts seem to match up with the back, I mean it doesn't look obviously wrong, so I'm guessing it's right. It's just a shame that I don't like the yarn I've used and don't think I will wear it. I'll post pictures when it's finished.

Well, I'd almost finished it and decided to try it on. It is a vile monstrosity of Molly Weasley-esque proportions. I did the only sensible thing and frogged it. I did capture its awfulness on camera first though.

The yarn will come in for the right project(s) some day. How about a run of nice multidirectional scarves, make a start on next year's Christmas gifts? Well done on not shoving it in a carrier bag and stuffing it in the bottom of the wardrobe, better to rip it now than five years down the line.

I keep seeing this phrase used and am at a loss as to what it means. So has anyone got two minutes to explain what "frogged" means? Apologies up front for being a dimwit.
