Hitting with a bible is usually a cure for something known as a Ganglion.

Rubbing something with a wedding ring (or something gold) is a recognised cure for Styes.

What you need for warts is: Essence of witches belt and centurians belly water with a little blue tit spittle...

I know a woman who buys warts off people; she normally gives the sufferer 5p, and amazingly they do normally disappear within a few months.

Luckily, they don't reappear on her! :D

I used to have some warts on my hands when I was a teenager. It seemed to me that some people are prone to getting one or two at that age. As at the time I had a few friends with them too.
{before anyone says anything, we didn't hold hands}

I used to regularly put compound W on, and pick at them with a scalpel, but it just kept coming back. Eventually after about 2 years they just go away.
My mate got some nasty chemicals from a chemistry student which got rid of his but he was left with marks, when the chemicals had burned his flesh. I wouldn't recommend it, he still has the marks 15 years later.
Also going t the doctor and having them frozen off doesn't work either. They always grow back.

I think you just have to wait for them to go.

My sister went through a period when she got styes quite a lot and my grandma told my mum to rub a wedding ring on it, my mum told her not to be daft, but it worked! I got one recently and did the same and again, it worked!

I can remember getting them at about 9/10.

My grandma told me to rub the warts with bacon and then burry the bacon in the garden.

It worked :suspect: they were gone in a week.

It hadn't occurred to me Litha, but it makes sense! I think you should suggest a witchy fourm club to Geoff; I'd like to have a look through something like that!

ill go and have a nosey on what these clubs entail ( i know im rubbish i did read about em but have forgotton)

its funny how many peoples tell me what a load of twoddle spells and magick is, but then i ask em was there any funny old wives tales ya nannan or some old lady told you.. when they think of something similer to you both and i tell them thats what magick spells are basically, they cant beleive it.

its same as the chicken soup for the pooly, So much love and get well wishes are stirred into the soup as its being made that they transfere to the patient ( its better made from scratch not tinned as much more of your healing energies get into it while you are preparing it)

ok ill shurrup LOL wayy off topic now eh :D

my 18yr old has just had a re occurrence of a couple on his palm.
The last one he had was about 4 yrs ago which was successfully dealt with using a varrucae cream, believe it or not.
Wasn't the bazzuka one but one of the more traditionally used ones.
He's bought one to try again.

Remember as a kid the GP told my mom to rub a bit of raw meat on them and then bury the meat under the light of a full moon.

Result? Had to go to the Childrens Hosp and have them burnt off with Liquid Nitrogen.

Used to be told that if you bit them and made them bleed then you'd bleed to death!

styes are easy to get rid of. You need to rub them with gold or silver (and probably any other metal)

Warts on horses are removed by stopping air getting to them. They are rubbed with nail varnish. That seems to clear them up. Whether it would work for a human I wouldn't like to say.

As a child I grew up in Japan (my parents worked out there) and we were told by many people that a herbal tea was a miracle cure for warts, verucas etc. The tea is called, "Hakocha" and must be drunk for a period of no less than four weeks. A member of my family successfully used the tea to cure a veruca from their foot simply by drinking it. It seems this was one wives tale that turned out to be true!

my nanna alsp told me the rub some meat on it and bury it, although she said it had to be steak!

I ended up with a little ring of tiny warts around the big one then a month later they all dissappeared. I've never had a wart since.

I'd love to know the logic behind this method because I just can't work it out! It's interesting to know it is based on a spell!

My nanna also does the wedding ring and styes thing also.

When I'm at it does anyone know why older people say your living under the broom if you live with someone but are not married?

When I was about 15, I had about 12 warts over each of my hands. I used to go and have them (very painfully) frozen every week at the docs but once the receptionist told me that vitamin E worked for her son. A quick trip to Holland & Barratt for some said vitamin and within a couple of weeks they had gone!

No more painfull cryo clinic - oh, and none have returned, touch wood!

Funny how so many people mention red meat, because my mum once cured a wart by rubbing it with a potato and burying it. Thinking back to my A-Level Biology days, there is a chemical that is found in red meat that is also found in potatoes, but I forget what it is (might be catalase, or some other enzyme). Wonder if this could be responsible?

Jumping the broom is part of a Pagan wedding ( called a handfasting) its not actually recognised by law tho.

alot of spells involve burying things, to rid your self of something you bury OFF your property ideally as far away as possible, to attract things to you bury ON your property

Rub some sap from a dandelion stem onto a wart, that does the trick.

I think my son will have to have a look at some of these cures as I have spent about £30 on Wartner and they still keep coming back. He's just started getting them at 18. I would imagine spitting on them first thing in the morning will be a good one as it sure smells like there's been some poisonous fumes escaped from his being during the night so I'm sure his first spit must be lethal!

I've heard the raw meat thing when I was a girl, fortunately I never had a wart, apart from a verucca which I dried up with some tinct benzoin, then picked at with tweezers until I got it all

When I was a kid it was rumoured you got warts from egg shells or stealing birds eggs ???? dont know why, but the boys who went bird nesting also had warts ...

My friend had a lot of success with that freezing compound, that might be called Wartner... it certainly had wart in the title.

Clear nail varnish - it suffocates them. Worked for me years ago - and they were bad.

I had warts when I was younger. 2 on my fingers and one right under my nose that grew like a little shoot. Doctor told my mum to tie some very thin cotton round it and it would fall off. Obviously this stopped the blood flowing to it, but it would fall off and then grow back again. Eventually ended up in Children's having it snipped off. Strangely, once I'd had that done, all the others disappeared too.
