View Full Version : What are you knitting at the moment?
I am frantically knitting a hat, as this super chilly weather has reminded me it would be warmer if I wore a hat.
I am knitting as fast as I can, in DK green wool, so growing quite quickly. I think I have enough to make a pair of mittens too :)
Photo when it is finished, hopefully this afternoon.
I'm knitting a scarf, a scarf, some socks, some socks, some socks, a blanket and a blanket. :hihi:
Mr&MrsRadish 22-11-2008, 12:33 Hats and baby cardigans and a scarf for Mr Radish. May just get on to the Christmas presents next week, with any luck!
peakwool 22-11-2008, 20:09 Matching baby and dad socks. Also finishing off a winter coat. Nearly there on that one. Will start some shawls afterwards. Have lace yarn and just putting off starting.
peakwool 22-11-2008, 20:10 Forgot to add. Squares for at least three different blankets.

Squares for scarves socks, socks, socks, socks and more socks hottie cover and sideways gloves at the moment.
Wool4brains 22-11-2008, 23:26 Do you mean "what am I knitting?" or "what knitting do I have that I keep looking at and leaving in the bag?" ? I am knitting-reallyknitting two pairs of socks and a lace top but I've got a sweater, a beaded lace thing and a spider that I'm making excuses about.
Plain Talker 22-11-2008, 23:29 Footcoverings.. lots of footcoverings, and my other projects are some mitts and bootees etc for a friend who's expecting a baby in the spring.
Socks for me and granddaughter number 2, loads of baby bootees for the shop, elbow length gloves, jumper with skull and crossbones for grandson number one, V-neck jumper for daughter number 3 followed by Noro Silk Garden cardi for big sister! It's always nice to have a choice.................
pixiepear 23-11-2008, 10:11 1 cardiganforme that keeps getting left so I can work on: 2 scarves, 2 pairs of bedsocks, 1 hat, 3 pairs of gloves...and yet I still keep adding to the list!
Glad I have finished this as it is certainly hat weather out there today!

I am also knitting squares for blankets, socks, more socks, a lace-weight scarf, a Brioche throw, a pair of mittens, and attempting a second set of handles for the felted bag, as the first set I was not happy with. There are probably other things in the wip basket, but I haven't seen them for a while, so they may have finished themselves?!
Glad I have finished this as it is certainly hat weather out there today!

A shawl in King Cole Smooth (which is surprisingly nice!!)
A pair of socks in Regia Galaxy,
A jumper in Kon Tiki (bright pink, for these dark winter days..says I on a stunning sunny day)

"Ariel" scarf in Noro Cash Iroha and another one in Cashmere
Mans jumper in Stylecraft Life Chunky
Crochet:
The never ending Cath Kidston inspired blanket

Swirly socks (I will finish 1 now I have worked out something that swirls)
Jaden (I did want to get this done for Christmas - its not going to happen)

Hope the photo links work, its been a long time since I posted photos and i am struggling to remember how!
Just casting on yet more gloves, again for my Mum, in Freedom Spirit, to replace the ones that got pinched from her last year.
Oh, so many projects, i'm sure i said i wasnt going to commit to too much this year! Still got several scarves, hat, bed socks and gloves on the go, and still haven't finished my green cardi for me. And yet more projects queued up...
Mr&MrsRadish 24-11-2008, 22:43 Oh Pixiepear, your mums gloves are stunning! I hope she likes them as much as i do!

Thank you!
I love the pattern, its from "AlterKnits" and at the moment its my favourite for fingerless gloves. My mum's coming today and I will give them to her rather than making her wait until Chrtistmas. I will not let any member of my family have cold hands!:suspect:
Sally-Pie 25-11-2008, 10:54 On my needles are
Christmas jumper for my mum in some Debbie Bliss stuff (maybe Cathay)
Christmas socks for my dad in Jitterbug
Evil Gold cardigan for me in Silk Garden
Falling Leaves socks for me in Maine Woods
Elephant, Rabbit and Bear toys in King Cole Smooth for the Children's Christmas Party at work.
Quite conservative I feel.
cryinglion 25-11-2008, 12:36 I saw a woman wearing a beautiful sweater in a coffee shop recently and I want one. She bought it in an expensive shop at Meadowhall so I went and had a look at it and drew a quick sketch. I am now recklessly and enthusiastically knitting a big cabled jumper without a pattern. So far I've done a front but it's all wrong so I'm doing another front.
I've also got my first (and last) fair isle still on the go and I've half a sleeveless vest for a 6 year old still to knit ...and Conall's been asking about his socks again.
I finished a Christmas scarf in Mirasol Misky for Aunty Agnes and sent it off to her as I thought she'd need it now. She phoned to say she loves it and has been wearing it around the house. Luckily my Uncle made her take it off before she ate her tomato soup.

Those are gorgeous!
ETA: Don't know what's happened to the link, but quoting it seems to have broken it. Sorry. Works fine in your post.

Very nice. Don't know if it's the lighting giving the effect, but I love what looks like a very subtle variegation of that lovely rich green yarn.
Mr&MrsRadish 26-11-2008, 01:34 Hecate, those socks are worthy of a gods feet! Being a novice sock knitter, i am amazed, how do you find the patience to do those intricate cables on more than 2 needles? I am in awe!

Ta very much :) . It's not nearly as tricky as it looks, especially if you don't use a cable needle (though the Ironworks socks have a couple of tough spots where I couldn't work out how to manipulate the stitches without the use of one, so that was a bit of a faff in places).

Beautiful socks! I particularly love the Twisted Flower one in Loden. Just gorgeous.
Thanks, espadrille and pixiepear :) .
Brill.Do you sell these at all?
No, I've only ever knit for friends and family. No one's ever asked before, actually, so thanks for that :) .
A bit of a tangent: I think there are copyright issues with selling items knit from others' patterns. Not sure of the details, or how it works in practice and from designer to designer, but I know that some designers state explicitly that items knit from their patterns can't be sold.
