Scarlett is ill again (for about the 12th time in 6 months) We've been up all night with her - I seriously mean all night. She woke up ever 20 mins from about 9pm.

She has a middle ear infection (again) she's had conjunctivitis twice, she's had sickness and diarrhoea about 5 times. She's had various virus' and I'm so tired of it.

I know kids get ill but it seems like Scarlett picks up ever bug going. Just when we get her into a routine (see thread on controlled crying) she gets ill and we're back to square one again.

Anyway just wanted to have a moan and ask if anyone else's kids are like this?

My son is ill at the moment and I thought he was on the mend but about an hour ago he started complaining about his ear, got hot again and voluntarily went for a nap which is unhread of. It feels like every winter he is at least slightly ill all the time.
I can remember when he was 1, his first winter, it did seem like he was continually ill. Fortunately though he's always been a heavy sleeper and seems to sleep through it generally. I do feel sorry for you, is it possible to have her in bed while she's ill so you're not in and out all night? I know that could disrupt routines and how fidgetty they are too. Hope she gets better soon.

We did take her in beside us last night but she'd doze then wake up within the 20mins screaming and we couldn't do anything to comfort her. She's only just 8 months and she's been ill so many times. Poor wee mite.

Hiya sorry to hear your lo is ill. My little boy had no illnesses at all until he was 9 months when he got a middle ear infection. After that for months on end he would have colds, ear infections, sickness bugs (he also had about 6 in the space of a few months)etc all the time. It seemed he got something every couple of weeks. He would also get high temperatures a lot. Now he still gets a lot of colds but he isn't really ill in himself that often if you know what I mean.

I took him to the doctors as my father in law, who is a GP, suggested it might be worth them doing a urine sample to check he didn't have an underlying urine infection. I don't know but I'm guessing that if this was the case the immune system would be compromised and less able to fight bugs etc. It turned out he didn't have one anyway. The doctor basically said to me that if the child gets rid of a bug and then gets another a week later then that is fine. They might get loads and that is just unfortunate. It's if they never go away at all that there might be a problem. So I'm guessing you're having a bad spell like we did for about 5 months! But it has got better recently and like I said he is ok in himself and hasn't had a sickness bug for ages (can't believe I just said that, he'll probably have one tomorrow now!)

Hope your lo is better soon. x

Millie is 15 weeks and is losing her voice for the 3rd time, last 2 times it was just the voice but this time she is really ratty and also warm.

I really wish I could help her bless. She is trying to cry but just squeaking.
