Hi there, I'm a student and considering renting on Cecil Square which is just off London Road. Does anyone know what the area is like? Also, what is the average rent pw around the area?

Many Thanks

Sharrow is a very cosmopolitan area. lots of diversity, and a good community spirit.

lost of things happening, there's the sharrow festival, and sharrow comunity forum very active round here....

London Road is great for shopping and eating, i's fantastically close to town (two busstops/ ten minutes walk away)

It's great

I live at the bottom of london road (towards woodseats not city) and it's a nice area (my naighbour is annoying as hell but hey) it's been nice living here since i moved up from london, only thing is i got my car broken into on my drive after 2 weeks of being here.

I don't like london road much (after 7ish) all the "rude boys" who really just want a hug and not to "bust a cap in someones ass" come out and ive been in takeaways a few times and had trouble kick off (not with me).

I know im talking about the exact area you wanted to know about but this is the most i can tell you about the area.

I live very close to Cecil Square (have done for 3 years) - it's a nice area, London Road is a bit noisy but if you're living on Cecil Square (a true cul-de-sac) then you'll be away from it.

Parking can be a bit of a 'mare, especially when the community centre is open, but thats only once or twice a week.

Never had any problems with crime or disorder, unless you count watching the occasional barney outside the takeaway of a Friday night.

Plenty of restaraunts/takeaways on London Road, and Waitrose is within spitting distance. A 10-min walk will get you into the city centre.
