I'm not sure if anyone else has seen him so I thought I would post on here.

Last night after being at corporation me and my friends ambled up to Devonshire green to get a taxi. A couple of my friends had a falling out and so we ended up still there at about 4am.

I have one guys and a girl at one end of Devvy green, the girl sobbing, the same happening at another side and the 3 least drunk people (me and 2 other mates) st on the banking when along comes this busker strumming an acoustic guitar. We chat politely to him and then he proceeds to climb on top of a litter bin and starts to play the blues.

I don't know if it was the alcohol or something else but there is a lot to be said for the healing power of music because within about 5 mins we were all back together having a good time dancing about, being friendly with him and dancing around happily.

I finally got in about 6:30 am this morning (thank you Bus driver for waking me up at my stop) and realised I'd had one of those rare life affirming moments without even realising it. Maybe it was the splitting headache, maybe the initial hangover but all restored my faith in human spirit.

I was just curious about two things really. Firstly, did anyone else meet the busker stood on a bin in Devonshire green or the surrounding area last night (27/5/05)? My other thing is I just wondered if anyone would like to share third own life affirming moments f them can remember them.

Cheers! Wilf

Ahhh no it wasn't you then the film I was watching finished at 1.30 so I'd have been firmly in the land of nod by then. Suprised I've never seen/heard/been kept awake into the wee hours by a busker on Devonshire Green though, I doubt he's too regular, maybe its a summer thing now its warmer.

Sounds like the same guy who was there when I was walking back from a gig with mates last MOnday.

A bit off topic, but some years ago when buskers and beggars were becoming common in Shefield, I walked up Chapel Walk, and lounging in the doorway of the Victoria Hall was an aging hippie with a guitar playing and singing in a laid back fashion, with a notice that said " Not hungry, not homeless, just happy", which made a change! Then a couple of months later, he was back again, in the same doorway, belting out protest songs, next to a new sign that said, "Need £300 to get a bitch of an ex-wife off my back".with the usual collecting cap beside it. I often wonder what the story was !:)

I've seen him! He hangs around Devonshire Quater, often just outside the Devonshire Chippy.

He played Radiohead for me once.
He also once took my helium balloon and sang in a squeaky voice. He's really nice!

The bloke with the not hungry just happy is called Dave, I've not seen him around Sheffield for a while but he did use to drink in the Classic Rock Bar a few years ago. I know he got sent down for a few months for possessing cannabis
