Does anyone know if there is anyone / anywhere in Sheffield that will help my child learn a language alongside English? I was thinking along the lines of reading stories, singing songs and generally talking to him. I would prefer Spanish but will consider anything.
My son is only 1 so obviously it won't be tutoring in the traditional sense.
I'm a native French speaker and my partner is about to graduate from a French degree. We are infact looking to provide French lessons, although this of course would be a slightly different approach. If you are interested and think we could help please feel free to send a PM.

Pack him off to a french boarding school. He'll learn quickly to fend for himself and it would also get him out of your hair through his more 'difficult years' When he returns at 21 you won't recognise him and he'll speak the lingo like a native. This is what happened to me and it never did me any harm:gag:
i am a native polish
you should learn polish as it's more original than french, german :D
also know some spanish and german, but it's very elementary

I can put you in touch with a lady that runs extra curricular primary school classes and private tuition in German.
She could provide you with basic language and Nursery Rhyme tapes. You would have a session every week or so along with your child for you to learn the pronunciation but the main benefit would come from you or your partner constantly singing or using phrases with your child alongside the English.
You could also consider a child minder/nanny with a different language who would be exposing your child to total immersion on a daily basis.
Thanks for that but I am more interested in French lessons anybody out there?

Hi! Sorry, I've only just seen your thread and it's a long time after the event, but if you're still interested I run an agency called Babble and Speak. We provide tutors who come to people's homes and teach foreign languages, including in French. Children / family groups are a speciality. Call Katie on 2555598 or email katie@babbleandspeak.com if you're still interested. Cheers!
