I've got 3 A-Levels under my belt (AAB) :hihi: but I had to sacrifice my Geography AS Level (B) to get those! Now I'm at Uni I'd quite like to finish my Geography AS Level to A-Level standard. Is it possible to do this at a different college to where I orginally studied (since that's up north!) and is there anywhere in Sheffield I could do this part-time, possibly evenings? I'd love to get the A in Geography I should have had... :loopy:

Is it possible to carry on with an AS if you have left the subject for a year? I thought you had to go straight on to A2 but I would like to know the real answer.

PS Hook - well done.

Thanks :)

I don't know, I'd even be willing to resit the AS year again, as long as it's the same course. I've done it before, and with a few revision lessons I could probably pass the exams to get a B/A again.

Maybe I'd be best off contacting my old school when I'm home in June. I assume I wouldn't be able to start until September.

Another avenue I suppose would be to find somebody who would tutor me in A2/AS Geography and I just sit the exams at a local school next July.

Contact the Sheffield College - Probably the Castle Site on Granville Rd

You would be best to contact the head office on granville road but you would not be able to study the A2 level at Castle college, as it is now a solely vocational centre.

You would have to take the course at either Norton or Hillsborough (the new centre) depending on which one offers the specific course as an A2 level (I know Norton does)

Another thing to check is whether the A2 now is the same syllabus as when you studied and also to complete your A2 qualification you would need to make sure it is for the same examination board.

You've said you would be willing the resit the As, that would only be necessary if it was a different examination board, and be aware that means that it would be a different syllabus with different case studies.

Because it is a single course, you might be able to find that it is offered as a evening class (hopefully). You would, however be required to pay for it, despite the fact you would be in FTE (Full Time Education).

other than that good luck. The head office number for The Sheffield College is 0114 260 2600

Thanks for all the help :-)

I just checked on the Sheffield College website, and the exam board for Geography is Edecel, but my AS certificate is with AQA. So I guess I'd need to study it on my own.. unless I sit the entire course with another exam board!

How about asking your exam board where to try?
