Please don,t buy a parrot for Christmas unless you really have done extensive home work. These beautiful inteligent creatures who can live as long as a humans have so many needs. I am a member of Birdline Rescue and there are thousands of birds who are desperate for loving homes.
They are perhaps one of the most difficult pets as they require so much attention and stimulation. Another down side is if they require an aviain vet, is the expence. They are high maintanance and costly.
Please don,t go there unless you are sure you have the time, love, patience and money to give them what they deserve.
A bird that sits in a cage all day and night is serving a prison sentence for no crime.

I have an african grey and 4 cats. I just make sure they don't stay in the same room when we go out or go to bed, but to be fair, they don't bother with him now. I think they realise they would come off FAR worse if they tried anything with him :hihi:

I'd imagine so!

Not to mention the noise would probably have you coming running well before anything bad happened.

They are beautiful, intelligent creatures. We have 4 booked in to board with us over Xmas, I'm thinking I best buy the neighbours some earplugs:hihi:

I am impressed with your web site, I will diary your details, as it is not easy to find people who will do house visits for parrots. My beuautiful Amazons live in a large birdroom in the house and will try and bully anyone they do not know. It is difficult getting cover when I am away they are such characters and like small children need a regular routine or they become difficult and have tantrums. Good luck with your business

Thank you very much B.M.E . The people who bring their parrots here to board come back to us regularly as they like the fact we are not worried with handling them and that they live with us as part of the family which helps keep their normal routine. They are also all allowed out of their cages every day a problem some of them have had with other places they have used who keep them caged all day. I love seeing how they interact with us. If people can get their cage to us and it fits through our door we are happy to help them and if not we will do a home visit. We did land up taking our door frame out last year to get one gentlemans enormous Macaw cage in though
