Do you remember last summer, on the local radio and news, big ants being spotted in the city and , ahem, experts telling us not to worry, they don't bite? well i saw one land on my leg a few years back on my shinbone and it took a great big bite out of me, i can still see a scar in certain lights. Well i saw some last weekend on the sheffield canal, and i got bit on my ankle, left arm, left hand and the small of my back, and yes, it does smart a bit! So if you go down the towpath this weekend, beware of a little surprise!

*just handed in a dissertation on army ants*
Don't know how relevant that is, but I thought I'd mention it...

yeah, but don't worry, as the expert from the university said, they don't bite! Good job they don't eh?

Anybody noticed that there are swarms of mosquitoes around this year?

Yeh....ME!!!!! Begger the perishing mosquitos! My body holds testimony to any biting/flying insect! I cut the hedge last week and I am still suffering now! Every inch of uncovered skin got bitten!! I look like a flea ridden dog.
I can offer advice to any other "sweet" person like myself. (Invite me to all of your bbq's.........nobody else will get bitten while I am around! lol). Seriously.......this was suggested to me a couple of years ago, and it does seem to work. Avon "skin so soft" body lotion...........woodland fresh. The little biters don't seem so keen to grab a portion when it is plastered in this stuff.

I forgot to say..........I had forgotton to plaster my body in Avon before I cut the hedge!! I won't make that mistake again!! lol.
