I've just happily sat through The Blob - starring Steve McQueen as an extremely unconvincing 17 year-old!! He was 28 when he made the film, and looked every year of it.

Much as I enjoyed the film, I did find his relatively aged appearance somewhat detracted from the overall effect.

Who's the least convincing teenager you've seen on screen??

Stockard Channing as Rizzo in Grease. She must have been at least 35.

ETA: IMDB says she was 33!

I think most of the problem - aside from employmet laws - is that teenagers are spotty and awkward and look terrible on screen! American teenagers in particular (generalisation, granted).

Any of the "School children" in Blackboard Jungle. I don't think many of them were under 30. Excellent film though.

Harry Enfield without a doubt. I hated that character.

And Barbara Windsor in Carry on Camping.

Oh no, Harry Enfield was fantastic as Kevin the Teenager - as was Kathy Burke as his friend Perry. I thought they caught the essence of being teenagers brilliantly.

Apparently when Ralph Macchio was in the original Karate Kid trilogy in the 80s, he was in his late 20s, yet his character Daniel LaRusso was about 15 at the most.

Such a shame Mr Miyagi died a while back
