View Full Version : Does this laptop look ok to you? jennycakes 16-11-2008, 20:00 http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.204-2834.aspx, also it says 1gb and a 2gb is that a split hard drive?? Dave650 16-11-2008, 20:04 It doesn't look bad RE the 1gb + 2 gb it's not your harddrive storage space (which is at 160gb - very reasonable for most users) it's looks to be your RAM (random access memory) and I think it means it's a 3gb total of ram made up of a 1 and a 2gb memory module. Hope this is of some help. HotPhil 16-11-2008, 20:07 I think you're right - one 1GB stick and one 2GB stick. Also, the graphics spec uses "up to" 1GB - I suspect the 3GB is shared with the graphics adaptor. Basically, the "true" spec is 2GB of RAM for OS/Apps. jennycakes 16-11-2008, 20:39 packard bell 2.80ghz 448mb of ram pentium (r)4 cpu 280ghz this is what im on at the mo,does this laptop look any better than this desktop?:help: kenthack 16-11-2008, 22:11 itll be better than your desktop id say but if you aint got money to burn id upgrade your desktops memory (give people on here like terminator and bart a shout as they usually have ram for sale) and youll notice a vast improvement in your comp and give it a new lease of life use crucial scanner (http://www.crucial.com/uk/?gclid=COqInPPo-pYCFQsMGgodwR3UWg) to find out what memory (probably ddr) and the max your board will take Dave650 17-11-2008, 08:18 Good advice - on top of that a fresh install of windows to boot would give you that new pc feel. (PS I noticed barts always has ram for sale :P) jennycakes 17-11-2008, 15:38 Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048MB Currently Installed Memory: 512MB Available Memory Slots: 1 Number of Banks: 2 Dual Channel Support: No CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel CPU Family: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz Model 2, Stepping 9 CPU Speed: 2800 MHz This is what the scanner has come back with and advises to up the memory to 1.5 - 2MB as suggested.
