I was born in Sheffield in 1953. My father, Wilfred Watson was black, from Jamaica and 50 years old in 1953. I would love to find him as I never got the chance to meet him. If you knew Brackley Street in 1953 and any people living there then, please reply as all leads will be followed up. Wilfred is said to have been living in Sheffield for at least 6 years before 1953 so perhaps he came over during the war. We have just found out that many Jamaicans and West Indians came over then and worked in Northern factories as part of the war effort. Wilfred was a joiner/carpenter when he was in Sheffield. He may have lodged with a black family on Brackley Street.
